'16 NC OG Landon Dickerson

Are we trying to get him?

Question is probably better suited for griddie as I have not talked with my VFL friend in a couple of weeks to have him inquire. I would think so because FSU has acknowledged him in the portal and likely gone in a 2/15 article in the Orlando paper. He had us, Bama, UGA, Auburn and VA Tech at the top of his list back in HS. Pettibone has entered the portal from Bama, so I doubt they are interested in Landon (similar type players except Landon's better). I would think our staff would be interested with Trey likely done.

Dickerson will play circles around Richmond. Good Lord, he’s 10 times better.

If only he could. There's no value in a guy that plays 2 games per year. And even when he played more, such as 2017, he rated in the 300s by PFF. He's not even a world beater, so being insanely injury prone takes his value to near nothing.

But I guess this is all moot if he's sticking with the team.

Insanely injury prone, he’s had one knee injury

247 said it was an ankle injury last year and that an injury has cut short every season for him thus far. Went from 7 games Y1, to 4 games Y2, to 2 games in Y3. He needed a walking scooter just to get around this Fall.

I'm not sure what else you'd call all of that except insanely injury prone.

But i really respect you Griddie, so if you say he's played really well at FSU I'll believe you. Just hard to get past missing that many games.

Thanks... The only thing I have seen is people arguing on here if we should or not.

I would be surprised if we made a move here. He might be a good bit better than Richmond but with his injury history and questionable upside I don't see Pruitt making a move on him.

I have a little trouble getting excited about these guys that didn't pan out at other schools. Perhaps there is a reason they didn't pan out--like they were overrated.

sometimes, but in other cases its something else, like a bad fit, or not finding the right support system, being homesick, needing a change of scenery, etc. there's an article from the athletic that sorta breaks down why solomon and gibbs left and neither really had to do with playing ability.

He tweaked his ankle and somehow got some sort of staff infection which was pretty serious as those things can be.

I vaguely remember some of the guys (Reeves-Maybin being one) that were turned off by this guys attitude when he came up for a visit. Anyone else remember that?
Wasn't leaving also turned off by the attitude of the strength and conditioning coach?

I guess that article was correct....
He’s still not very good............

Can't be serious with that post. FSU even called him their best O-lineman - had plans to move him to LT. He had an ACL as a freshman. Then he had a severe ankle sprain last season on the same right leg that ended up with a staph infection after he came back from the ACL. That has zero to do with his ability and what he showed before the ACL. He gained an extra year of recovery for his knee with the ankle issue last season.

Kirkland would be the equivalent as far as injuries of a good player for UT. However, Kirkland depends more on quickness to play LB than Dickerson does as an O-lineman. Tougher to come back when you have to be quick.

Those ratings are kind of ridiculous. Fields is a 100, but hasn’t played much yet. Braun is a multi year all conference player and the top rated guard in the country and is a 95, below Jaelan Phillips who also hasn’t really played. Fields is rated higher Hurts and Bryant who have had great careers so far.
Bryant has not had a great career and he's a quitter.

I’m beginning to wonder if what the guy I work with told me is true now. Last week we were talking and I asked him if he saw that Dickerson was transferring. His son went to high school with Dickerson and they still talk some. My co worker said the the OL coach for FSU basically called him a Pu$$y for wanting to use knee braces. Parents got pissed about it and went to the Unveristy about the OL coach comments. Then a few days after we had been talking about it the OL coach gets fired. So maybe that might be why Dickerson is staying now.
