'16 NC OG Landon Dickerson

Leonard Little, Chris Mims, Anthony Miller, Dale Carter, Jesse Mahelona, Charlie Garner, Billy Williams, Chuck Smith, Aubrayo Franklin, Gibril Wilson, Mychal Rivera, Dan McCullers, Cordarelle Patterson, Von Pearson, and Alvin Kamara all say hi.

But you also have to say hi to Kenny O'Neal, Dave Clark, Darin Gooch, John Brown, Alphonso Carter, Woody Quinn, and Dontavius Blair. I'm sure I'm missing some. I like getting some jucos to fill in holes in the roster. The ones like Kamara are more valuable bc they have 3 years left to play. But you can't always rely on jucos to fill in every year. The pressure is there to contribute right away, and you don't always know what you're going to get.

Kinda like HIGH SCHOOL recruits. :wink2:

I think that there will always be a few JUCOS you want to take a flyer on. I agree that it cannot be the foundation of a recruiting class. It's like every other player you decide to recruit. You try to fill a need and if the need is great enough, it is likely worth the risk. Also, there are also usually a few studs like Kamara that are not much of a risk and who will contribute right away.

Folks - they took Kerbyson, a 3* natural guard with RT as his second position, and by the time he played his Senior season he was good enough to win O-lineman of the Week in the SEC twice. They can make an O-line stud like Landon into anything they need him to be and he wants to be. He just needs to be here.

And Thomas, the one they couldn't make a T out of, also won the SEC O-lineman of the Week once as a sophomore at his natural position of C. The O-line beat down by posters is unwarranted this season. Could see it last year, but this unit did well this season. With the injuries they had, they threw two freshmen in and made a mediocre C into a G - yet they still had a solid season, got ranked in the top 25 and are going to a NY's day bowl. Good stuff!

Hall is your LT next year and he will be a good one. Richmond is better suited for RT. Then you've got Kendrick and Johnson at Tackle. Jones, Wiseman, Robertson, Stewart, and Sanders at Guard. Mosley could play guard or RT. Thomas and Raulerson at Center. There's more depth than people realize. Only 1 senior in that group. Taking 3 this class will be fine.

This... Add in Boulware and it's no where near being "up sh!t creek".... Amazing really, I don't know how anyone could think we are in bad shape.... Not to mention we aren't done yet this year.

Thank you.

We really don't need to do this.. Kerbyson was decent not lbut not being a true tackle with tackle abilities limited him especially in pass protection

I said that in regards to this year's class. If we miss on Dickerson then that leaves us with 1 OL commit and no other names on the horizon. Think that's ok? Ask Dooley how not focusing on OL recruiting usually works out.

Yep improvement of Kerbyson from last year to this year was night and day.

I do agree that getting Dickerson would be big, but the situation is a bit different than it was with Dooley.

When I did my analysis on Dooley's O-line recruiting, I found that a lot of SEC schools had a year here and there with low OL recruiting (1 or 2 OL recruits). What made UT under Dooley so different was that he had TWO years like that. So, for instance, one school might grab 1 OL recruit in one class, but they might've had 5 or 6 in the class before, so that it evened out a bit more. Dooley only had 2 O-line recruits in his entire last 2 years.

I was referring to the relationship with him, I understand that wasn't his position coach. Thanks tho, was just curious.

If we had inroads on this, Butch would have taken it over to close it anyway.

Fair enough. Hope it works out.

I agree. I think 2 should be a minimum. and 2 guys that are recruited, no fillers.

Keep in mind that we have an OT that decided not to enroll due to family stuff last year that will be in this class (presumably).

Robertson may be the most impressive. Took him from DL and made him 2nd best OL we had as a freshman.
