"This was, for me, was more about the academics side. We got up there early and we did and did a tour of all the engineer stuff," Dickerson explained. "I've never really got to see the inside of an engineering building at any school and I got to go in there and see all the stuff I wanted to see with the academic side of things. That was the big part for me this weekend."

"It was really important to me," Dickerson continued, "because engineering isn't the easiest major to go into and we were talking to the assistant dean of the engineering school and he said it was a lot easier to begin an engineering major and then change your major than to be in a different major and get in the engineering program. So, just knowing that even if I do want to change then it will be that much easier for me."

"I definitely enjoyed myself at the game and I always do whenever I go up there," Dickerson said. "I got to have fun at the game and it's always enjoyable she I go up there."

As for the Vols, now that's he's visited Tennessee six times, Dickerson was asked what keeps him coming back. "It's definitely the atmosphere up there, whether it's a game or it isn't a game, just all the coaching staff are great people, they're all friendly people," Dickerson said. "The drive up there is always nice and Knoxville is a great place. There's always something to do and we always go do something new when we're up there. That's what keeps me coming back."

FTR, the Hamm commitment wont affect Dickersons status as the #1 OG on our list. Hamm projects as a OT for us.

Our staff loves some versatile O-linemen. I really think they want to recruit guys they see having the potential to play multiple positions (both Hamm and Dickerson seem to fit that description) and then just let the competition sort it out once everyone is on campus.

Mike Farrell: "Everything about him, I like a lot...whoever gets him is going to get a guy who, I think, plays three years and then could be off to the league. That's how good he is."

Whoa. That's some lofty praise. Seriously.

He forgot to add 3 years at Tennessee and then off to the league. I agree whole heartedly and this guy will be getting a serious bump over the course of his senior year. Honeslty though it's probably better if he doesn't so we can fly him under the radar

That's high praise. Typically guards don't leave early for the draft.

Where was Hamm on the OT list?

Very high. They love his size and athleticism. Has a serious mean streak. Keep in mind hes only played OL one season, so while he might have thr strength and athleticism, he is incredibly raw technique wise. Thats a direct quote from his cousin Fred White who was in his ear from day one.

Fwiw, I think Dickerson is only a matter of time.

Looks like the DeBord hiring has really helped with the OL recruiting. Is that statement accurate, RPP?

We are in a much better position, recruiting wise, than we were with Bajakian. Play-calling & game decisions have yet to be seen, but I would guess, from all the positivity surrounding what he's shown thus far, it will also be an upgrade.
