'16 NC OG Landon Dickerson

kids in general seem to be slow playing Tennessee this year. I hope next year willbe back to having the nucleus of the class locked down by September or October.

if Butch can just get Landon on campus again. I think we got this one.

Highly rated guys think they should play early, our coaches could offer every player a chance to compete for PT, but a scan of the depth chart speaks for itself. The EEs and Warrior, maybe Kongbo could break the two deep next year imo. I think next year we can offer that again as we will lose several of the 1s. And they will litter the draft. Butch can sell PT again and point to the last decade of our draftees, then in year 4 of his tenure Dobbs, Hurd, Kamara, Cam, JRM, Barnett, Martin, maybe Malone or TK, Wolf even. All with nice hardware from next year. Butch either signs a top 5 class or parlays our resurrection into a huge contract for himself at Texas or something. The Cowboys will probably be paying someone a $hit ton by then who knows.

Meh, this is like a Fulmer class. NSD "surprises" will be aplenty.

Ppl complained the last two years that we were all wrapped up too early and there was no buzz on NSD. Well guess what? They get their wish this year.

If he is as good as we and he think he is, he would likely start. If he isn't good enough to start, he can redshirt and be an instant all SEC as a redshirt freshman.

If you have to offer early PT to be able to attract the top guys then you are not doing it right.

I agree. The depth guys that are coming in know they are going to RS and we know they have strong upside. They have already announced that group. So people freak and believe that's the only type they are going to get. With Dools it was. Butch isn't Dools.

Per Hubbs

Don Mahoney was with the two as well and he will be in North Carolina tomorrow visiting with Landon Dickerson. Dickerson has told Volquest he will know by the end of the weekend where he will visit for his last official visit.

Something just doesn't add up with this recruitment. Where is he visiting this weekend? FSU? Do they maybe not have room, and will know after this weekend if they can take him or not? I can't understand why he's so high on us apparently, yet doesn't even know if he will take his last OV to us.

Man if FSU doesn't take this guy becuase of a numbers crunch, they must have the best class of all time

It doesn't add up, him not knowing if he even wants to give UT an official makes it seem like there is no legitimate interest. Maybe he is thinking he has already visited UT enough and would like to see somewhere else. Idk seems odd either way.

Maybe he's prepared to shut it down if FSU asks him to do so. Doesn't want to commit to a visit anywhere on the 29th and then cancel it. He does that and he his announcement is ruined. Those who followed his recruitment would still know it's FSU.

I wonder if numbers might be a factor here. LWS has recently posted that we will take 20 signees this year plus one spot is being held for Z. Stewart. With 17 public commitments currently, that would give us only 3 spots remaining if LWS is correct (and I think he's as solid as they come). Warrior is obviously a priority. After him, I would think DL would be the biggest need. I just can't imagine Butch signing a class where the only DL is a juco with 2 years of eligibility. That just seems like a terrible idea. As good as Dickerson is (and as much as I would love to get him), we're still in really good shape on OL even without him. Crazy to think that we may not have room for a player of this caliber.

Of course, it's also possible that if he wants to commit, the coaches find a way to make it work. I'm just thinking out loud (in the virtual sense, I suppose).

Maybe it comes down to Warrior and the best two available after Nigel regardless of position. If they are confident Stewart is going to enroll, as VQ seemed to point to after the Tatum commit, Dickerson was no longer in play.

I'm not sure if ZS would still be a counter on this class. I thought hid LOI either counted last year or doesn't at all. If he doesn't sign another LOI it shouldn't count toward this year's 25. Now we may be up against the 85 but we always have attrition in the spring.

There is no numbers crunch that would keep this guy out. If you have one of the top players in the country wanting in you fit him in.

He might be the most college ready linemen in the country this year.

Pretty sure he was going to blueshirt but then delayed enrollment so he never counted towards anything. This could've opened another spot down the line through back counting an EE though if I understand the rules correctly

I don't know how Stewart would be counted either. I'm just going on what LWS said, which was 20 signees plus Stewart.

I'm just thinking, with 3 spots left, what are the priorities? For me the answer is Warrior, a HS DT, and a DE. However, if you think of Bituli as a DE, maybe that lessens the need there. It does seem like the coaches are making Kongbo a priority though.

Was that before or after North left? I'm thinking we sign 21-23.

He posted it last night in the numbers thread.

they will hold one spot for Stewart. he will count when he arrives on campus. so 20 is the likely number..

I've learned tonight from more than one source that coaches have visited all of our committed recruits so none are eligible for a blue shirt.

Just passing along info to clarify your posts..

And BTW, Dust, like you, I've been thinking for weeks that we would end up taking 23 or so. If it was any other poster, I probably wouldn't give it much weight, but LWS is legit. Of course, the numbers situation is always fluid, so who knows?
