'16 NC OG Landon Dickerson

And BTW, Dust, like you, I've been thinking for weeks that we would end up taking 23 or so. If it was any other poster, I probably wouldn't give it much weight, but LWS is legit. Of course, the numbers situation is always fluid, so who knows?

At this point, and I have sympathy for Zach having lost his mother, but if he's impacting Dickerson recruitment with the possibility that he might enroll...well that's nuts. I respect the coaches for honoring his situation, yet I'm over this impacting our future success. Lost my dad, and know many others that have lost a parent early and I think whoever let or told him to put his life on hold for a year is crazy. In my opinion (and I'm sure many folks won't share it) is that you have to move on. He's going to have to make a choice at some point, and honestly which one would you choose if they were in the same class? I want Stewart to play ball for us. But at this point I hope we know for sure he's enrolling this summer (and I don't understand why he's not enrolling for the spring) or our commitment to him is going to get costly. I suppose I'm an arsehole for feeling this way, but poo or get off the pot at this point. We need players like Dickerson and I want Stewart but he seems like he's making this as hard on our team as possible (and I'm not suggesting that's his plan).

21 seems to be the logical number. 25 available scholarships-3 2015 blueshirts-Stewart= 21 scholarships

In 2014, we signed 32 guys. VQ at the time had suggested that there was one BS, many of which thought to be Robertson. Swafford was also given a scholarship that next season, meaning he would count towards the 15 class as well (if you receive a scholarship within your first two years on a campus as a WO, you are forward-counted to the next class, much like a Blueshirt).

In 2015, we signed 30 guys. With the cap being at 25, plus Swafford and Robertson adding to that number, we had to blueshirt 7 guys. Bruce and Oliver never made it to the fall semester, so that number went down to 5. Stewart never made it in, so the number went down to 4. Those 4 count against the 2016 class. If Stewart enrolls this summer, he will count against the 2016 class as well, and the magic number then becomes 20.

We didn't blueshirt 7 guys. We backcounted and we also backcounted in 2014.

All I can say is I'm glad I do not know you personally.

I've lost a parent, many of us have. You have to go on or you're just hurting yourself. Last I'm saying as this thread is about Dickerson.

Zach is the oldest of his siblings I believe he is probably very needed at home and is torn on whether to further himself or stay home to take care of the family.

Not as easy as you make it out to be.

We didn't blueshirt 7 guys. We backcounted and we also backcounted in 2014.

Yes we backcounted in 2014. We had no more spots to backcount in 2015. Fortenberry confirmed we blueshirted 7. I'll try to find it. There's a reason we can only take 20 or 21. It's not just for kicks and giggles. The numbers show that.

BSing only counts against players that actually make to the scholarship.

So wouldn't the TE and Bruce not end up counting?

Yeah, that's right. Sorry, I alluded to that a few posts up. Without Oliver and Bruce, the number went to 5 blueshirts. When Stewart didn't enroll, the number went down to 4. If he does enroll, it's back to 5 and the number is at 20, like LWS said.

I've looked, and there was still room to backcount some last year. Plus, I don't think the school could have announced the guys that were blueshirting on NSD. The main number holding us back this year is the overall 85 limit.

We've had this discussion before. Below is our previous detailed dialogue about this, and it's not worth going through again. Fort & LWS seem to disagree with what you're saying in terms of backcounting.

Announcing on NSD is fine as long as the kid has paid he room deposit to housing and accepted his admission to school. Kids doesn't have to sign an nli

You may want to rethink some of those comments. That's being petty and selfish. Stewart is dealing with real life situations and you're talking about football games. Makes you look a little small. I lost my wife way too early in her life and I put my life on hold for 2 years because of family needs. Nothing mattered in my life more than my family. I hope Stewart makes it to Tennessee because that would mean he's in a good place with his life. I could care less about "numbers' in this class. That's just me though.
