'16 NC OG Landon Dickerson

Based on what? Those 5 will not jump us 10 spots as you have to assume those in front grab a couple at the same time...

I think we get 3 of the 5 at the most. Iff we get 4 hotdamn and if we shock the world and get all 5 this forum will got absolute nuts....

History.

I looked back at previous classes on rivals that were most similar to the one we could potentially finish with.

If we land Brown, Kongbo, Dickerson, Byrd, and Warrior, we would finish with 2 5-stars, 11 4-stars, and 9 3-stars for 2016. That would give us 22 signees with an average star rating of 3.68 on rivals.

The most similar classes I could find was Georgia's 2014 class that had 21 signees with an average star rating of 3.61 and Clemson's 2015 class that signed 23 signees with an average star rating of 3.61.

Georgia's 2014 class finished #7 and Clemson's 2015 class finished #4.

I doubt we finish as high as 2015 Clemson because they signed one extra 5-star and one extra top 100 4-star than we could potentially sign. While its unlikely we finish much lower than 2014 Georgia since they will have signed 1 less 5-star than we could potentially finish with.

In fact, my estimate of finishing between 7-10 on rivals is quite conservative. Truth is we could finish as high as #6 and realistically only as low as #8 or #9 if we sign those 5 top 100 players I named.

Logic is flawed. But keep on dreaming

This is the guy who I can see us potentially turning away based on numbers. 1) We might be holding a spot for Stewart so he would essentially be a guard in this class 2) We have a good amount of young talent at guard, Jones, Boulware, etc.

Should we lose a tackle in favor of Dickerson? I'll let Butch decide that.

Fortenberry said we have three spots. There are no blue shirt candidates. The only way around that is we piss someone off with a gray shirt offer (assuming none were told that is a possibility up front).

Dickerson, Kongbo, Warrior, Brown, Byrd.

How do you say no to two of those?

This is kind of what I keep thinking. On the one hand, it seems inconceivable that we would turn away a player of Dickerson's caliber. On the other hand, if you have to turn someone away (and I think we will), he does seem to play the position of least need.

In any event, being in a position to turn away quality players is a great problem to have.

Very good chance you don't have to say no. Going 5 for 5 is realistically unlikely.

I think those are 5 guys worth pissing someone off for. Just my opinion. with how this staff usually has a plan it's hard to imagine they didn't leave themselves an option to fit these guys in but I don't know.

Hyams is claiming we have 22 spots for the record. In his scenario we have room for all 5. We'll see how it plays out. But agreed. If these 5 wanted to commit, you tell 1 or 2 kids you're sorry and deal with any wounded pride another day.

I think its safe to say nobody but the staff knows and GFW even said we sign more than most think. I dont think you bring Byrd in this late and push this hard to tell him oh nevermind.

Dickerson
Warrior
Byrd
Kongbo

With one of Brown, Daniels or Williams.

No. Douche move if we do that.

Yeah well, then it's a douche move to put a coach on the hot seat after every game if he is forced to take lesser players to field a team. Can't have it both ways.

You get the very best. Even if it means to cut ties. Tim Hart is one case and every school does it.

It's funny you use the word "forced" here. Isn't it the coach who extends the offers in the first place? Saying he is forced to take a kid, would mean he never had the option. He offered, kid accepted, no forcing here.

We have over a 100 "offers" out a year, but only 25ish spots a year. Everyone who gets an offer, doesn't get to send in a NLI, yes including so called verbal commits.

Get all the elite players that want to Volunteer....even if you have to cut a project player. That how elite programs cruit.

My disagreement is taking project commitments early. Silly to me. Alot of projects may jump on the last month if you see missing elite players

And yet we are still pushing for Zack Moss... The coaches have a plan we do not know about. Shocking, I know. :)

You don't "cut" a kid on NSD.
