It's funny you use the word "forced" here. Isn't it the coach who extends the offers in the first place? Saying he is forced to take a kid, would mean he never had the option. He offered, kid accepted, no forcing here.
It was an inference to a hypothetical scenario. And in a way is it not 'forced'? Maybe not in the way of a person having a gun to their head. But as far as it being deemed the correct move to make in the rather pointless court of public opinion. Part of the reason I like Harbaugh is he doesn't cater to the PC crowd and worries more about winning than hurt feelings because a kid doesn't make a team. I got cut one year on the 5th and 6th grade basketball team. I don't remember some hands across America bs suggesting that I was horribly wronged. I was told to suck it up, practice, and get better. Never got cut again. I was 10 and learned that lesson. These kids are 17-18 years old and will get a free ride to play sports. Sorry if I'm not shedding a tear over some perceived embarrassment.
Get all the elite players that want to Volunteer....even if you have to cut a project player. That how elite programs cruit.
My disagreement is taking project commitments early. Silly to me. Alot of projects may jump on the last month if you see missing elite players
As Butch catches big fish he releases the smaller fish he caught earlier.
Of our five remaining big-time targets, this is the one that I am the least confident about.
Looking at the list of commits in this weekend plus the BIG targets we have in, can you imagine how incredible the enviroment is going to be? I guarantee you that if any of the big 3 targets (Brown, Dickerson, Byrd) are on the fence, this weekend will push them over. I'm predicting nuclear booms for next Wednesday. Way, way, way too much smoke for each of these guys and the timing screams Vols.
I just got a text from the guy I work with and he said Saban is suppose to come visit Dickerson tonight and his family.
