'16 NC OG Landon Dickerson

Perhaps, although Johnson committed to Tennessee a full 4 months after JG did. So, well before he committed, he knew JG would be coming in a year before him.

My point was simply that I seriously doubt that Jones told the top ranked QB in the country to scram....I don't know for certain, but it sure seemed like Johnson left of his own accord to go to Clemson...perhaps it was because he saw the logjam at QB at UT created by Dormady, Jones and JG.

Pretty sure the OP was talking about Kendall, not Johnson

I think they were talking about Austin Kendall not Hunter Johnson. Maybe i'm

I would as well after thinking it over. Hurd and Kamara just like 2015 will see all the carries. Kelly gets the garbage reps. CFA will RS unless one of the 3 is injured. If they took Moss he will RS. Was Joe Young a well spent scholarship? Not really. Focus on RBs in 2017.

Agree with everything. But don't think CFA, or any other RB for that matter, will redshirt. Get on the field in special teams, get him a handful of garbage reps like Kelly did last year. Just no reason to RS the kid, especially with what we expect to sign at RB in 2017. Jmo.

Yes, I was speaking of Kendall, not Johnson.

Clemson has sold Johnson on the fact he will probably be the starter as a freshman after Watson leaves. Tennessee has several qbs ahead of him.

If Dickerson's account of his interactions with Butch this weekend is accurate, here's my prediction.

We have a maximum of four spots available.

Warrior, Byrd, and Kongbo have committed to the staff, and they will formally announce over the next two days.

Brown has been completely up front with the staff and told them he's truly torn and wants 24 hours to think about it. The remaining spot is his, if he wants it.

Dickerson has been pu$$yfooting around, (i.e., wishy-washy, tells players he's committing then won't commit to coaches, non-responsive, etc.), which would explain Butch's standoffish approach during the OV. Still, the spot is his if Brown passes.

The staff has let a player (Moss?) know they'll take him if they have room (i.e., if Brown and Dickerson go elsewhere.) However, they owe it to that player to let him know ASAP whether or not there's a spot for him. That's why Butch warned Dickerson to stay in constant contact if he's legitimately interested. If he goes radio-silent, they'll let the player know that the spot is his if Brown passes.

Just my $.02...

That pretty much sums up my thoughts as well. If this is the way it actually plays out, I will be quite happy with the results (getting 3+?).

Hindsight is always 20/20. Having only 3 scholarship RBs is NOT enough.

Including Aimes, we currently have 4 on board for 2016. As long as we pull another 2 RBS in next year's class, then we'll be OK. And that's without factoring in walk-ons.

2016 wasn't the question. The question was "Was Young a wasted scholarship?" Young got the scholly for 2015 and the Vols had Hurd, Karmara and Kelly....that was it until they signed Young. So my response was no because playing a SEC season with 3 RBs is pushing it. Fortunately he wasn't needed but hindsight is always 20/20.

Dickerson isn't one of your kids. Harass them if you must; but not our recruits. They have until NSD to decide. If one of them wants to take that long, so be it. It's no skin off your nose. Dissing a recruit because they don't do what you want makes you the petulant one, no?

We're trying to improve our roster, in case you haven't noticed.

dickerson is not coming to tennessee and the idea that a message board post has any bearing on his recruitment is comical haha

Evan Berry. Just saying...

Some reason, the coaches don't seem to want to play Evan at RB. Maybe they see great potential at safety, maybe he doesn't want to play RB (takes a beating) maybe he isn't as good at RB as he is on KO returns (two different skill sets). Whatever, that doesn't appear to be a direction they are going to go.

Young was a blueshirt...counts against 2016.

If you were a recruit, you would certainly be checking out your "fan mail" (threads with your name on it) on fan forums, among the colleges you are considering. You know you would. And you don't have a clue as whether he will or won't, so stop pretending you know...because you don't.

Quinten Dormady was 2-star when he committed. That same weekend, the coaches apparently rejected a commitment from Torrance Gibson, at the time a 5-star.

Dormady was higher ranked when he committed he was a 4 star would have been a 5 star but was injured I believe playing baseball

True enough, but last year in preparation for the bowl game they did put him in as their backup running back so they do appear to think he's at least capable of it.
