'16 NC QB Austin Kendall (former UT commit)

Agreed...either one would be outstanding. I originally thought Guarantano would be the tougher pull, but these visits prove TN to be a serious contender for him. I really don't think we could go wrong with either...

No question. He's talked very glowingly in the past about TN as well. What I love about him is he plays against great competition up there in NJ and I love his size. 6'4 with his skill set is hard to find. The kid can really run, yet he has all the qualities you want in a Pro-Style QB.

That's what I was thinking as well. That's a long trip from Jersey twice in a short time period. Maybe he commits to the coaches tomorrow...

I'd guess the staff is selling the "we are only taking 1 QB in 2016" to all the QBs offered. If a kid wants the spot, he may have to commit earlier than he had thought he would if he wants to be the guy.

One benefit of taking so many commitments is starting on the next class. Different from Fulmer years for sure

I like the new method much better. Fill the class with kids you feel can help Tennessee win and move on to the next class. Getting a 5-6 month jump on shifting focus to the next class is huge IMO.

Another advantage is that you can spend time upgrading your class too

Wow, well we will certainly be looking amazing with either of these guys. I honestly can't say which one I'd rather have as both are such amazing prospects.

I think we should take both of them, send Torrance Gibson to some place like Hargrave Military Academy for a year, and then bring him in next year as our third quarterback just to f*** with Leb.

Yep...he has quite the skill set at his size. I love Kendall, but I tend to like Guatantano a little better...would be thrilled with either though.

If Butch really wants to be a boss, he could see if he can get both committed. Unlikely but not impossible given our lack of depth at the position. Current QB situation still leaves a lot to be desired and perhaps a couple of supremely confident kids with good connections to the program would hop onboard.

No.

I really want us to start only taking one a year. It's much better for program stability.

I think 2 wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility. Peterman will be gone and if Jauan doesn't pan out we will only have dormady and Dobbs.

Nah...ideally you never have to take more than 1 QB. Evens out the classes and provides a much better looking depth chart.

Peterman is a RS SO so technically he would be a RS SR headed into the 2016 season. IF he decided to leave UT early, or if JJ "did not pan out at QB" very early after getting to campus, then the staff considers taking 2 IMO.

Every program takes more than 1 a year on occasion. Ideally I see your point, but attrition over the course of time likely makes that impossible.

Time will dictate what needs to be done. We are still deficient at the QB position, and if these kids are as good as the "experts' say, I don't know why both couldnt be in play.

And what is ideal about our QB situation? : )

We have a SR this year who has won some games. We have a So who played well at times as a FR. We have Peterman for depth. We have a great DT QB kid coming in with this class and also a top caliber passer who can move pretty well. We look to be in on some great QBs for 2016(needing to sign 1), and lead for a great QB for 2017 in Johnson. IMO our QB situation is setting up great.

Thanks, LV...saved me the trouble. :good!:

It has to materialize on the field. Im optimistic it will, but I have my doubts as to whether we have a "good" QB on the roster....and I think that is a fair position for any fan to take given each QB's body work to-date.

I'm sure Dormady's & Jenning's senior seasons will be a very hot topic this fall on VN.

Another thing here though is all any of them have is potential. And with that being said if you keep loading up with QBs, it's going to start working against you in a hurry. Big-time HS QBs aren't going to be interested in a university who has taken 4 QBs in two classes...just isn't gonna happen.

I don't entirely disagree with the one-a-year approach, its ideal but not always practical.

18 months until 2016 signee day and thats an eternity. Roster transition will aid in Butch's decisions I'm sure, but I just think its too early to discount taking 2 top-end QBs if the opportunity presents itself.

We'll see whay happens!
