'16 NC RB BJ Emmons

We are still in it for Kareem Walker. You best believe Urbs is on Stroke alert with him visiting with JG.

I guess this is a good place to put this, good thing to know about all recruits going forward. The new rules for eligibility. The good thing is everyone will know before Emmon's SR year on whether or not he will qualify. Here is the highlights.

•To play Division I sports, you must earn 16 core courses.
•Ten of them must be completed prior to the seventh semester. Those ten courses are “locked in” and can’t be retaken to improve the grade-point average.
•Beginning August 1, 2016, you must earn at least a 2.300 GPA in NCAA core courses to be eligible to compete in your first year of college.
•To get a scholarship and practice, you must earn at least a 2.000 GPA in NCAA core courses.
•Only courses that appear on your high school’s list of NCAA courses will be used to calculate your GPA for NCAA eligibility purposes.
•Once ten core courses are “locked in” prior to the start of your seventh semester, you can’t take those classes over again to improve your GPA.

Unless this is the same requirement for every HS student to get into any University, then this is complete crap! Why should any athlete have to be a better student than any other student? Don't get me wrong, I think those who waste their opportunity and don't get a degree are making a big mistake, but an athlete shouldn't be held to a higher academic standard than anybody else.

Not all schools. Auburn requires their athletes to be able to spell at least three words that end in "at".

I don't think those are very high standards at all. It is very likely that if those standards are not met the player or prospective student would not be able to succeed in college.

I'm not saying the standards are too challenging, only that they should be the same for athletes as for every other student.

Anyone that has a pulse and can put a pen to a piece of paper can earn a 2.00.

Most of these athletes aren't going to be Engineering majors.
