'16 NC RB Robert Washington

Would love to land him as the RB in the '16 class. And LOL @ some thinking Banks ends up at RB in college.

Just going off what the kid said himself. He said the Tennessee coaches were recruiting him as a RB. :)

I had felt before he said RB that DB was where he would end up.

I forgot to mention that apparently the UT staff can pack 18+ pounds of muscle on a kid in about 25 days. This kid could be a DT in no time. :)

"It was exciting. I couldn't stop smiling. Coach Butch Jones was actually the one that offered me so that was cool and I was smiling the whole day," Washington explained.

"I had a great time up there. I had a chance to talk to coach Gillespie and we broke down some field and we watched Jalen Hurd practice so that was a big thing. He told me what he installs with his running backs and his philosophy. It was a great opportunity to be up there," Washington said. "We ate lunch with the coaches and we got to tour the facilities and campus. It was a nice experience."

"After my tour of the campus I had a chance to sit down with coach Jones and we sat down for about an hour," Washington said. "He told me what he's going to change about the Tennessee program and how when players come in here how they are going to grow and stuff."

"It's the SEC and nobody can go wrong with the SEC. Tennessee has some great tradition and you want to be apart of great tradition," Washington explained. "Then, they are playing the racetrack game and I would like to be apart of that. I'm still taking all these visits, but I'm very interested in Tennessee."

Plans to visit UT again in the next week or so. UT, UNC, NC St, Cuse, WVU, and ND are standing out right now.

Washington DC NFTC..

Touted 2016 RB Robert Washington first mentioned Notre Dame when talking about top schools. He's been talking to recruiter Tony Alford for two years.

Washington also said Tennessee, Ohio State, Syracuse and West Virginia are up there.

Boston College is another strong relationship.

"It was really good. We got in early in the morning and we toured the campus," Washington said. "We really just kicked it with the coaches and even though they were doing camp and I wasn't participating, I got to talk to them a lot."

On Butch:

"It was great. We just sat down in his office and he said that he loved me as a prospect and that he would love to have me. He said he loved everything that I do," Washington explained. "I love coach Jones. He's just so down to earth. This was my second conversation with him and he said to come back whenever and to call him anytime so we can just build our relationship."

"It's crazy that the big man, he's a very busy guy being the head coach at Tennessee, it's crazy that he takes out individual time to meet with them and that's great," Washington said. "That means he treats them as more than recruits, he treats them as part of the family. I love that he does that."

"Coach Gillespie told me he wants me bad and he told me I'd be the only running back they'd take in the class and that I'm number one on their board," Washington said. "I like UT a lot but I'm just taking this day-by-day and I'm just seeing how everything goes and I'll eventually come out with my top 15 and Tennessee will be in my top 15," Washington said.

This is one time I actually believe that he is #1 on UTs board and they would only take 1 RB if he commits early on.

It will be Nice when we can get our depth back to the point if only taking 1 QB and 1 RB per year. Then can use those extra spots on oline or defense

Of course every other recruit that have said Butch told them they are #1 on the board have lied.

I did not say a recruit lied. I just think 99% of the time it is coach speak and "recruiting". In this particular case, IF Washington were to commit to UT early because he wanted to be the "only" RB taken, IMO RB recruiting is done for 2016. Of course the staff would still "recruit" RBs, but taking another commitment would not happen. Yes, Washington is that good.

IF Washington plans to wait till NSD 2016 to announce his commitment, I doubt he would be a part of our class. JMO

If Hurd, Scott, and Paulk all live up their potential and we pull Kamara or D.Williams this cycle then I think our RB depth would be at a place were we can wait until National Signing Day to wait out a RB like Washington.

Possibly. From watching CBJ and his recruiting, IMO he would take his #2 or #3 or both on his RB board long before NSD. IF Robert was a "silent" and had more less shut things down except for his announcement 3-4 months before NSD, Maybe I could see CBJ rolling the dice.

I think more and more recruits are starting to see that if they want to be "the man" and the only 1 taken at a given position it's usually going to take an early commitment.

Via Rivals.com:

"Washington came into Saturday's event with a chip on his shoulder, looking to prove that he belongs among the top names in the 2016 class. He faired very well, especially during one-on-ones, showing that he's more than just a bulldozing back, he can also make plays in the passing game. Camps are important for Washington, who plays a small school in North Carolina, and he stepped up to the level of competition. Washington plans to cut his list to 15 schools soon, with Ohio State, Tennessee and others expected to make the cut."
