Detmer was a better pure college qb than Mariota.

In 400 more pass attempts Mariota had 16 less TDs, but 51 less interceptions. 67% completion percentage to 62. Not to mention the 2,000 plus yards rushing and 30 TDs on the ground he recorded. Detmer was a system QB before the term was coined, and Mariota was a far-better player.

Yeah, but Mariota himself was a huge chunk of their rushing yardage as well.I'm willing to bet a chunk of change that detmer didn't have the running game that mariota had to suck the defense up make passing easier. Detmer was good enough to play 14-15 years in the league although the greatest accomplishment I can remember him having was throwing 7 INTs in a game once he hits 55 he'll be drawing the NFL veterans pension
*edit just checked and the year he won the heisman their entire team had around the same amount of yards as the Oregon leading rusher

After watching Jarrett Guarantano's junior highlights 3 times now, I am convinced that he is a future superstar with unlimited potential. I firmly believe that if he stays healthy and sticks to his commitment, he will be a long-term starter.
If you haven't seen his film, I highly recommend you do so.
With a name like Guarantano, he's going to need a nickname that rolls a little easier off the tongue. Lets get creative and see what we can come up with.
To start, I nominate the nickname "Gizmo"
I also like "Inspector Gadget" since he seems to have the tools to escape any situation, no matter how dire it may seem!
