what does that have to do with anything?

You said that you did not want a QB that came in 2nd...Peyton's teams came in 2nd to nebraska for a NC, he came in 2nd for a heisman...2nd looks pretty dang good from where we are and have been for a decade (or more)... :mf_surrender:
Not piling on, just explaining.

@rivalsmike: Did the #Vols get the most influential QB on the recruiting trail this year? http://t.co/DVH2MrNyhr

"He may not be the highest-ranked quarterback in the country (currently No. 4 at dual-threat) but Jersey signal-caller Jarrett Guarantano could have the most impact on the recruiting trail of anyone. The Tennessee commitment is well-connected and respected in New Jersey and could get Kareem Walker, Rashan Gary, Ahmir Mitchell and others to take a longer look at the Vols.

And once kids start looking harder at Tennessee, the coaches do the rest. There is little doubt that Butch Jones has moved into my national top five for head coach recruiters, and his staff is off the charts when it comes to closing on players.

Guarantano has amazing upside and he's just starting to develop into an elite passer. His performance at the New Jersey stop in the Rivals Camp Series Presented by Under Armour was the best I've seen him, and heading into the event I wasn't sold on the Rivals100 Five-Star Challenge invitation. But he proved to me that he keeps making strides. Guarantano is a huge on-field get for the Vols and he will be equally valuable as a recruiter. Just watch."

Tee's mobility helped the team overcome rivals that Peyton was not able to, with his arm. That's just pure fact. If Peyton had Tee's athleticism to boot, then there is no doubt he would have beaten Florida a few times, and won a Naty.

If Peyton would have had Tees defense he would have beaten Fla a couple of times!

Farrell seems to strongly believe that JG will land us at least one more NJ recruit. Hope he's right.

Which is a fun discussion. Gary, Mitchell, Walker... pick your poison. I think Walker or Mitchell is a bigger need but Gary is just so good. I'd go Gary just to keep him away from Bama.

I hate to jump in and settle somebody else's dispute...but that wasn't what SouthKnoxVol was saying.

They were responding to Nationdom's post saying that Mariotta wasn't that good because he didn't win a National Championship. SouthKnox was citing Tee, who did win one, and Peyton, who didn't, and was saying that it is obvious that we would pick Peyton every time, even though Tee is the only one who won the big game.

You're on the same team! :mf_surrender:

This.

Thank you for actually taking time to understand the context of my comment....instead of coming to the conclusion that my comment meant Tee was a better QB than Peyton.

Sincerely,

Richard

Farrell seems to gush about this kid every chance he gets. I think he'll eventually be a 5* on rivals at the least
He should be. I haven't seen that combination of arm talent, size and mobility in a QB prospect since I can remember. I liked Dobbs highlight reel, but he didn't seem to have Guarantano's arm strength.

I like Jennings, Dormady and Jones all 3, but the G'Man has it all, ya'll. :)

He had Tees Defense, we just found a way to lose to them, been fan for 44 years seems like the gators have always had our number, but that is fixing to change i hope.

No he didn't. But our opponents offenses also changed. It's college, no team is homogenous from year to year.

Well dont I feel sheepish..

If the defense had been as good as it was in 98..Peyton would have won one.

JG is at a regional event in NJ hosted by 247 where kids try to win Opening invites. According to updates, He and his dad have on their TN gear. JG said Walker is his top target and they are going "back and forth" right now whatever that means. Also Jgs dad is " decked out" in TN gear working on Mitchell to come with them on their next TN visit
