I mean outside of Johnson. We obviously have him committed. We need more than 2 and definitely more than 1. If we put this kid on hold and don't get Dickerson we have 1 OL. That's not much better than 2012.
Still trying to figure out why a guy would even consider a PWO or GS when he has committed to WVU and has over a half dozen legitimate offers elsewhere.
Probably the offer has contingencies attached.
Ohio offense tackle and current West Virginia commitment Nathan Niehaus has become a major target. Niehaus, a lifelong Vol fan with numerous ties to East Tennessee, already visited unoffcially a few weeks ago and Tennessee has a lot of momentum. He will make an official visit in January and that could be when Niehaus makes the flip many are expecting. Ohio State has gotten into the mix as well, but havne't given a firm offer.
Gotcha. Johnson and Dickerson would be manageable. Niehaus added to that would be great. Miss on Dickerson and slow play Niehaus and the situation would be rather bleak. Good thing it sounds like the GS/PWO may have been inaccurate.
Talked to Nathan Niehaus briefly tonight to catch up on a few things. First off, he will take his Tennessee official visit the weekend of Jan. 15.
But, as of now, that won't be the only official he takes. He is scheduled to see West Virginia the weekend of Jan. 22 and then Ohio State the weekend of Jan. 29.
Ohio State has yet to offer, but that's a situation we are going to monitor as it seems the Buckeye's interest is very real at this point.
Takeaways? My thoughts are two-fold. With Niehaus and his family being life-long Tennessee fans, they could come down that weekend, be blown away and shut the thing down.
Or, Niehaus wants to wait it out and see if OSU offers. That's just my take on the situation.
And then there's WVU, where he's been committed to for over half a year now.
