'16 SC RB Tavien Feaster

FSU was down only briefly, though, and they were still making bowl games and winning 7-9 games even during their lean years.

Closest comparison for Tennessee is either Notre Dame during the Charlie Weis era or Michigan during the Rich Rod/Hoke era.

I actually think Tennessee may have had the longest and worst down stretch in modern CFB history. 5 losing seasons in a 7 year stretch is just brutal for a program of this magnitude.

At least Michigan had a BCS bowl win under Hoke and Bama had a few 10 win seasons during their lean years.

"Still good with Clemson" is a lot different than saying i'm still 100% committed to Clemson and you guys have nothing to worry about.

I'm still good with Taco Bell, but that doesn't mean I'm eating there tonight.

Also, why would he tell a Clemson Homer that he's decomitted at this juncture. He's a vol. We will win him over because we are a better everything than Clemson.

@ExcessDepth: @chrisfoster44 @UTMotivator @ClemsonTom trust me Tom. Im from TN. You're lucky to find a fan with all their teeth. Let em be man. Morons.

Clemson is in the middle of nowhere. Nothing but back country South Carolina. My first trip there gave me an uneasy Deliverance-like feel.

Aside from the students that actually go there, that whole region is exactly what he is describing.

Man, facts are stubborn things.

I mean what is he supposed to say after he's been committed to a school for 7 months or so. I don't like you guys anymore. Leave me alone. All he is doing is reevaluating the situation. Like most have said, if we get him in for an OV then it will be even clearer his interest. It's down to UT and CU. Time for Clemson to feel the Drew Richmond effect via Butch Jones

This makes me feel a little better about our down times. College football is cyclical for sure

Short end is that we were out of this before he visited...now Clemson fans are freaking like Arizona and Ole Miss fans last year. Even if he quickly reaffirms with them, wasn't this productive? :shades:

Before they get to the conclusion that all is well with Feaster, let us remind them that their commitment came to visit us. Things may not change but things will never be the same for them after his visit to Knoxville.

Im not a Clemson insider (lol) but heres what I know from this weekend. Feaster has high and legitimate interest in the Vols. He sees playing opportunities early, especially considering the top 2 backs ahead of him will be juniors when he arrives. Hes also formed a very tight bond with JG and calls him "electric." Im making no prediction but Tennessee has put itself into a good position.

Sounds good. Hope we can get him back on campus 2-3 more times before NSD (including OV)

Just gotta get her to realize the distance is the same.

Well not exactly the same but close. Only 1 hour and 30 minute difference. I think more important than just distance, it is like this with most mommas, is the ability to let her son get away and grow as a person and a young man. Mommas feel they need to be around their sons forever to be there for them and protect them. Feaster is a great athlete and he needs to choose the best place for him. Hopefully he becomes a vol but at the end of the day he needs to choose what is best for him and no one else.

"After this visit I most definitely have to reevaluate everything," Feaster said. "I've thought about Tennessee because when they came in the first time they recruited me they were recruiting me hard, but Clemson was selling the whole instate thing. But, now I realize they are about the same length from my house, it was like it wasn't that far. And if I go to Tennessee I can get away from home and be myself."

He said it himself best. To get away from home and be himself. Butch is working his magic. Let's hope we can get him.

A guy on Tigernet who either is an insider of some sort or at least has Tavien's phone number posted this:

"Ok I've spent the last several hours on the phone with, um, interested parties. As you know, Tavien and his dad took a visit to Tennessee and he spoke glowingly about the visit. Not a good situation, at least on the surface.

But....I've done a lot of talking and texting, and I've heard the momma is "hot" about everything that has happened and I've also heard that Clemson's coaches still feel really good about Feaster. In fact, the hope is that they can get Tavien and his mother on campus this week and help settle things down. This appears to be a reactionary trip to something that has nothing to do with Clemson, and while it bears watching, I still think this is all Clemson."

and later on this:

"I've been texting with Tavien, and he said he is still good with Clemson. And for those of you who have been worrying, let me say this: I think I will be able to run a story early next week that should settle everybody down. Just trust me on this one. "

Sorry if someone else already posted this. Seems like he is someone who generally brings their board good info. Seems like this whole situation depends on Butch getting Tavien and Mother in for an official visit.

Tigernet is like the Vandymania of Clemson fan sites. Their moderator is like Don't Yates. He bans anyone with a differing opinion from the masses. I doubt very seriously if they have any actual linformation beyond what you would read on a pay spite from people who are connected to the program.

I'm assuming that means the staff feels really good about Kelly and Young. I thought we would take two.

No need to take 2 if you pull the elite 5 star top back. Small class and took 3 last year. 1 elite back is the best case scenario and saves a spot for another position
