'16 SC RB Tavien Feaster

Actually, not really. But I'll be the first to tell you that it is somewhat confusing, due to it having to be on a case-by-case basis. I can only imagine how confusing it is to people that only half follow Clemson recruiting.

An example.......Lane (does he still have that tiger paw tattoo? lol) visiting you guys is not seen or responded to in the same way that Ray Ray/Cain visiting Florida was last year, as it shouldn't have been. Ray Ray's dad is instrumental in the Tampa area for recruiting and wanted to get some of the other guy's foot in the door with the new coaching staff at one of the two flagship state programs. Ray Ray and Cain were the bait. They communicated as much with our coaching staff, and the unofficial visit took place as described, no harm no foul. Lane on the other hand lied to our coaching staff about even taking the visit. In Clemson's opinion, he had character questions anyways for lying about some weed charge he got in HS, so this was the final straw. In that case, Clemson actually pulled his offer. It would be stupid to have an iron clad policy, b/c as described not all visits/situations are created equal.

Another thing worth mentioning is that unofficials are not viewed the same as officials. In this particular case, Feaster would have to decommit before taking an OV to Tenn, as the #15 player in the nation (Shaq Smith) had to last week. It's not ideal, but Clemson has to protect their interests, and I understand it. I don't think we've had anybody flip on NSD under Dabo, so his policy is tough to argue. Lots of Clemson fans freak out when it happens, but eventually realize there was a good chance they weren't coming here anyways, and better to know in advance so that you can plan accordingly. We have another situation brewing with a WR, Powell, out of NC. He's mentioned taking OV's but doesn't have anything concrete, as Smith did. Powell has spoken with Dabo about it, and he's got a decision to make (the kid, not Dabo, as again Dabo's policy is pretty clear).

So, Deshaun made an official to Auburn...is that correct? If so, people grounded in reality know that you treat your star recruits differently. Just like Jimmy Johnson cut Curvin Richards for a fumble but looked the other way when Michael Irvin showed up late for a team meeting. Difference? When you let it be known that you have this policy...and quietly revel in it, it makes you look extra schmucky when you have to diverge from said policy. :hi:

1) How can they force a player to decommit?

2) If a player takes an OV without decommitting, do they pull his scholarship offer?

They most likely pull the scholarship offer. They're just afraid players will realize that Clemson is garbage and their facilities are borderline DIII.

No, that is not correct. But if you're looking for extra schmucky, take a quick trip to the bathroom and look in the mirror.

Also, did you completely miss the part where we just forced the #15 player in the country to decommit? Doesn't that go against everything you posted, after not even knowing Deshaun's visit wasn't an official?

Wow! Got personal! :) Deshaun Watson DIDN'T take official visits after he committed? You're respected on here, but I draw out the rival fan in you don't I? :w00t:

It's why I had a question mark lil guy...didn't mean to upset you...but it was a bonus.

Sounds like that #15 player was going to drop you first...so Dabo did the teenage preemptive breakup. Once again, how does he "force him to decommit". Some kind of Draconian ceremony with virgin sheep? :w00t:

How do you go from wanting to commit to a school one week to not taking visits at another in a week?
Something smells fishy!
( cue the salmon cannon)

What does it mean to "force" a player to decommit? Did they actually revoke his scholarship offer? As long as the scholarship offer still stands, I don't see how a team has any leverage in dictating what their verbal commitments can do or say.

Regardless of how consistently the policy is enforced, preventing commits from visiting other schools is a dumb policy. It makes a coaching staff look petty and insecure in the eyes of their own recruits, and demonstrates that: (1) they must have something to hide about their football program, and; (2) they don't actually have their players' best interests in mind. It's like a controlling boyfriend who won't let his girlfriend go anywhere without his supervision - it reeks of jealously and desperation.

Here at Tennessee, we have enough talent, tradition and facilities that it doesn't matter if our commits want to have fun with the recruiting process or do their due diligence and visit other schools. Butch is confident enough to know that our top commits won't stray, but even if some did he wouldn't have any problem finding a comparable replacement.

You had a question mark, then spent about 10 sentences spewing about Michael Irvin and god knows what else.

You could have simply asked if it was an official, and I would have politely responded that it was not.

Now you're rambling about another topic you have no idea about. You should read the below link. Really sounds like a kid that was going to drop us, lmao. Also, we're getting the last official and it is still very likely he will be a Clemson Tiger come January.

I'm really not trying to pick a fight with you, but if you're going to continually make false claims, talk ****, etc. I'm going to correct you and have fun at your expense in the process. Again, if you legitimately have any questions and aren't just trying to spew uninformed nonsense, simply ask and I'll simply answer.

To answer your first question, Clemson opens up the recruitment for that spot. Once we're filled, we're filled. When he was committed, we were filled. Now that he is not, we are not and we openly recruit accordingly.

Dabo is simply managing his program and limited amount of roster spots. We had a 3* corner that blew up last year over the summer and all of a sudden he wanted to take a bunch of visits. That is fine, no problem at all, but Clemson has to be able to do the same. He decommitted, while we re-opened talks with another top 100 guy, Mark Fields, and he ended up taking his spot. Kid went to Ohio State, and we upgraded with Fields, so it turned into a win-win, due to Dabo's management of the situation.

Who in the world names their kid Dabo?

That is my clear question with no M. Irvin and prostitute and cocaine references added.

What say you Palmer?

Let me know when you're "having fun at my expense"...haven't spent a penny yet in this exchange. :) I'm going to make a link of this thread if anyone ever asks what BUTTHURT looks like. :). All anyone needs to do is read back in this thread to see you unravel when there is a perceived slight to your program. All well and good if this was a Clemson board...but it ain't. My "spew" about the Cowboys and how an ultimate winning coach unabashedly preached star treatment does relate to this snake oil transaction Dabo's trying to pull over your masses. You bought it and that's fine...I'm calling bull because I see bull and no amount of TWITTER posts is going to sway me from that. I definitely think you end up with Feaster but it would be fun to have him officially visit, so Dabo could be officially recognized as the patron saint of self-important phony putzes. :)

Lol. His name is William. Brother used to call him "dat boy" as a baby, which- in true Alabama redneck fashion- eventually led to Dabo and stuck.

You type a lot of words, but really don't say much. Quite the talent actually.

Must be a true story. The Coosa Valley translation for the English term "that boy" would be Dabo.
