'16 SC RB Tavien Feaster

He'd obviously be a nice addition, but we're in pretty good shape at RB (or at least we have much higher priorities) and I'm not sure it'd be the best situation for him since he only has 1 more year of eligibility. He'd also probably still be the 2nd option behind Chandler, and he might be looking for a spot where he can be the #1 RB.

Absolutely. Why give up a 2020 4 year player for a 1 year player? How about we take a lineman that’ll play here 4 years (hopefully 3) instead? Yeah. Let’s do that.
He has the second highest YPC for a season in Clemson history. I think he would be a upgrade for our roster.

Outside of Chandler I dont think any of our running backs are a sure thing. Jordan runs hard but isnt great, Banks fumbles and could end up on D, Gray is a freshman.

Jordan > Feaster
Tavien Feaster: 222 carries, 1330 yards (6.0 avg), 15 TD, 23 rec, 183 yards, TD
Tim Jordan: 143 carries, 574 yards (4.0 avg), 3 TD, 20 rec, 181 yards

I mean...it's not close, IMO. I know Feaster had a much, much better line to run behind, but still. To say Jordan is better than him is a bold statement, and frankly I wholeheartedly disagree.

What do you think those stats would have looked like if he were running behind the same OL as Jordan?

Is Feaster better than Jordan? I guess, maybe. It's debatable. I think Jordan is very underrated by UT fans. He's done very well at times, especially considering the OL in front of him, and I imagine if he were at Clemson his stats would look similar to Feasters. JMO.

But the truth is a grad transfer RB is probably pretty far down the priority list right now for our coaches, if I had to guess. I'd love a Clemson DL grad transfer if available. Chandler, Jordan, Banks and Gray isn't a bad RB group. If the OL can block that group will get plenty of yards.

Jordan has the vision of Mr. Magoo

Would he be another Banks? Not sure if he would even be willing to come here with the amount of RB's. But he was a 5 star. I wonder if he was just a bad fit or if there is something else that was going on with him that made this happen. I mean, they won the NC, so we can't put it on the staff.

After three seasons and 1,330 yards rushing for the Clemson Tigers, running back Tavien Feaster is leaving the program. Clemson made a formal announcement on Wednesday.
“Tavien has informed us that he has entered the transfer portal with the intention to finish his degree at Clemson by August and continue his college career somewhere else,” the release from Dabo Swinney stated.
How does this relate to Tennessee? Well, as Michael Bratton points out, Feaster chose Clemson over Tennessee back in 2016.

The former five-star recruit didn’t pan out as the featured back for Clemson, so he’s looking to maximize his opportunities during his senior season. As a grad-transfer, he’ll be able to do that immediately in the 2019 season.
The 5-11, 222 pound homerun hitter is absolutely a guy that Tennessee could use, but is that the situation he wants to walk into? The Vols already have Ty Chandler and Tim Jordan as their feature guy. Jeremy Banks is set to be the big back. Freshman Eric Gray was hurt during the spring, but could very well see snaps early on.
Tennessee brought in Madre London last year as a graduate transfer, but the veteran back was unable to add much to the offense. Feaster clearly has more juice to him, but would be be happy in another rotational role?

He’s lives like 10 minutes from me. Clemson wanted him more back then and his family and crew wanted him to stay in Clemson which is 45 min from his front door.
He didn’t beat out Ettienne or the guy 5* they got last yr. 1 yr left to play and get draft ready.

He may be really good as the feature back. He was obviously behind Etienne, who may be the best RB in the country. Adam Choice was a RS SR and got a lot of the carries when the game was out of hand. The rest of the carries were split between Feaster and Dixon and Dixon averaged 9 yards a carry. He will probably be great for this year wherever he ends up.

i remember when Lynn J Dixon was committed to TN.

We could use him. Red shirt banks and give him another year to get over fumbleitus. Have Feaster and Gray as our 1-2-3. That’s our workhorse back that allows us to utilize Gray and Chandler in other ways

Sounds good but you know Banks is a dog and aint gonna sit. If he aint running, he'll be hittin at the lb spot.

that'd be a good way to get Banks to transfer....lol.
then we'd probably have room for Feaster?

win win?

lol.

i'd love to have Feaster. not sure it's worth the roster spot at this point though. if they push and get him, i'll roll with that decision. i won't be mad if we don't though.
