"It's hard to not get excited but my mom and dad keep reminding me that I have three years of practice left, and I need to calm down and try to help my team win on Friday nights," Angel told InsideTennessee.

"It was awesome. Nice facilities. I like the coaches and everything," Angel said.

"It was a lot different as far as the coaches," Angel said. "They have different coaches and everything. They had a different message to the recruits as far as what they're going to do."

"They don't really know. They're just kind of leaving it up to me right now because I have three years of high school left. We'll just see when I get older," Angel said.

He does know all about Class of 2014 talents like Hendersonville's*Jalen Hurd*and Gallatin's*Josh Malone*—*both of whom reside right around the corner. Hurd is committed to Tennessee and Malone is one of the top targets on the wide receiver board. Playing alongside them piques Angel's interest in the Vols.

"That would be awesome to get to play with some of the guys you grew up with and played travel teams and different sports with. That'd be pretty neat to have that opportunity," he said.

Kid might become a stud, but if you are halfway athletic and 6-3 220 at 14 I would expect you to dominate 5-8 140 pound kids.

I think this kid might have some potential, but it seems he wasn't having to strain himself at all. The kids he is shown playing against are undersized, slow, and fundamentally lacking. What classification is he playing in? Some of those kids look smaller than 5' 8" 140. I need to see him playing against some studs, not smurfs! He would be better prepared if his HS beefs up the schedule.

Central plays in one of the best classification in the state guess you don't know much. Central played against hurd and shut him down all night. As for angel kid is good but i don't think sec good yet. He has size and speed but still needs work

You probably just watched his middle school tape.

Dear journal,
8:58am began tour of vandy's complex.

8:58am coach Franklin: "look over your shoulder... And now, the other shoulder. All of this can be at your fingertips."

8:58.17am ended tour of Vandy's complex

He said complex because he was confused as hell when snakehead kept referencing an indoor stadium and renovations while they sat in a dirty shed beside their highschool field

That's funny right there!....and lit with Christmas lights too?

Attended the Memphis Nike Camp:

7. Gabe Angel, RB, Lebanon (Tenn.) Wilson Central (Class of 2016) – Angel actually competed in the Memphis Nike Camp last fall as just an eight grader. His comfort level this year was obvious. Though he’s only in ninth grade, Angel is one of the biggest running backs at the camp and predictably he did extremely well in the pass-blocking drills. What is a little surprising is how comfortable he was catching the ball in the pass game.

Spoke to some members of his family today at the game. They were the side of the family that are vol fans but they did say his parents are Vanderbilt fans. They did say if he was deciding today his parents would not want to sign his letter of intent to the school he would want to come to.

Incredibly, Angel received his first offer before he even got to high school. To date, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Tennessee and Vanderbilt have pulled the trigger. Th 6-feet-3, 225-pound Angel could play running back in college, though receiver, tight end and linebacker might all be possibilities as well. At the recent Memphis Nike Camp, he was solid at running back in blocking drills and at catching the ball. He's a big back, with good feet, that is difficult to bring down in the open field.

"It's all right," Angel told InsideTennessee. "I'm in the third week of rehab right now, so it's getting better. It's getting a lot stronger I can tell. Maybe in a week or two I'll be able to do some light jogging and stuff in a straight line."

"I'm very interested. With coach (Butch) Jones, I feel like they're doing good. They're doing really well (in recruiting)," Angel said.

"I definitely am (getting used to the drive to Knoxville). I was just talking to my dad. Probably come up in July and go over to Tennessee."

"That was a very big crowd for a spring game, especially coming in with a new coach. Everybody's pretty excited about coach Jones and what he's doing."

Along with returning a handful of times to Rocky Top this calendar year, Angel wants to visit Florida State, Georgia, Kentucky, Ole Miss and Vanderbilt.

Someone asked if Byron Devinner would hurt UT's chances with Angel...From a poster on VQ...

I coach this young man and teach with his dad and can tell you 100% that he truly LIKES the vols and especially Butch Jones!! Our biggest issue is the fact that all of his immediate family is season ticket holders to vandy!! I can honestly say that if he had to name a leader today that it would be ut!! Gabe and his dad really like the direction of our program under the direction of coach jones!! Gabe is a special player and can only hope that orange and white is in his future! I think the effect of Byron and his negative comments on ut is 0!!

Will be attending Wilson Central

Miss State has reportedly offered. Vols need to get in early on this kid. Looks like he likes Vandy a lot!

Whoever posted this video couldn't resist playing music that sounded like it came from an old atari or nintendo game. Then again, as small as other those kids are compared to him, I guess it fits.

"It was nice. I got to get back up here again and talk the coaches again. And we got to have some fun and play some games, too," Angel said. "It was a family atmosphere feeling. The coaches had their families there today and that was fun."

"I like the coaches and what they have going and what they have going on in recruiting and they're going to be better and they'll be good for years to come," Angel said. "The more times I come up here, the more I like it. They're definitely setting high up on my list right now."

Angel was able to talk to running backs coach Robert Gillespie while in Knoxville and that's important to the jumbo athlete as he would like to play running back at the next level.

"I've got to talk to him a couple of times and I've gotten to hang out with him every time I'm up here," Angel said.
