'16 TN LB Daniel Bituli (UT commit 7/18/15)

He must have went to some kind of camp before otherwise Rivals wouldn't have pics of him wearing their Rivals Championship Series shirts at a camp.

I don't know what he turns out to be but his film is better than Dodsons. He was the top remaining LB target of Will Muschamp at Auburn. You can't coach his size and speed. This staff is confident that they can coach up players. I trust the opinions of some of the best defensive minds in the game over my worries of his HS competition.

Some think Bituli may end on the DL.

That would mean he's going to be coached by Stripling, who is one of the best defensive line coaches in the nation and consistently gets his players to overachieve.

So, if anything, there's a good shot of him reaching his potential because he will be coached by Coach MF Stripling.

Great pick up. Couldn't care less if he doesn't attend camps.

He very well may end up there. Kid hasnt played his senior year yet. His body could change a lot as he ages and gets in a s&c program.

I like the potential

It's not the body or strength that needs to change. He has all that.

It's the other stuff IMO

I made the same analysis of Michael Sawyers.

But did you discover Leonard Fournette?

. Bituli is a great athlete, he is in shape, and a great wrestler!

I've never seen him play football, but I have seen him wrestle - a sport I know a lot more about than most. He is not in the same time zone as "great" on a wrestling mat.

Doesn't mean he won't be an outstanding player at UT and like the majority I have faith in CBJ as he's proven to be a pretty good judge of football talent.

In short - congrats DB! Go make an impact and prove the doubters wrong!

Do you know him personally?

I'll just say this.

I really really hope I'm wrong about the kid. I just don't think he has the mental toughness and the dog fight in him, to compete in major college football. Has the body and athletic ability. Smart kid too. From what I gather, education is important to his family.

That's all I will say. Again, I hope I'm wrong. Kid has ability.

why do they pay these coaches so much? All they need is you!

I thought the particular point of this sponsored sidetrack was talent evaluation and ability...cuz of the DE1 opinion on Bituli? :hmm:

Maybe so since honestly I didn't read through all of the thread. My feeling is if a player doesn't pan out then it's a bad evaluation regardless of the reason.. That said nobody including CBJ will be perfect in recruiting.

Panning out and being busts are quite different when judging staff on talent evaluation. Same consequence for us but ultimately positive as it pertains to finding playmakers.

Thats true I think most of the guys that have left have had plenty of talent. I think I missed the original point.

Lol, you guys are super salty when someone has a opinion different from yours. I think everyone wants this kid to succeed even the ones that question him some. No need to turn this into a back and forth crap slinging contest. Everyone has differing opinions, we'll see what happens when he gets here.

I just think it's hilarious that we have gotten to a point in recruiting where people are crying over getting the perceived #1 player in the state.
Says something about the recruiting the staff has done.

Number one player in the state. #ourstate #fence #memphisisours rah rah rah

So what's the deal here? Why are people complaining? I haven't followed this one so I don't know, but seems like a good get.

His recruitment didn't have enough drams to satisfy the hunger of some of the girls here. In order to be excited about a commit some posters require sleepless nights watching twitter feeds. It also helps if the recruit at some point says anything remotely complimentary of another program.

We still have a few posters that like the 2* "diamond-in-the-rough" recruits that DD attracted.
