'16 TX DT Chris Daniels

This may have been asked before but with limited numbers, would we take both Daniels and Brown if they wanted to commit?

Numbers are tight. With other players still on the board, it's very questionable. Some people like to think we'll find room no matter what, but that's not realistic. I think a lot has to do with how the coaches feel about where they are at with Brown and even Kongbo. Kongbo plays DE instead of DT, but if the coaches feel like he goes elsewhere, I question whether they would take Bailey over this young man(if he wants to come). Lots of factors are still in play, most being things only the coaches know.

I think you're wrong. Coaches have to watch their numbers. Sometimes that means turning down some talented players.
Maybe correct on that. But rule of thumb in recruiting goes something like this.If you have a DT that can play you make room no matter what. They are too hard to find and get. That being said who knows what will happen here because we are very tight on numbers.

I Agree. Only way they take both is if they miss on everyone but Warrior. Bailey, Kongbo, Byrd, Dickerson imo would all be takes before taking both.

If it's between Jaquan Bailey and Chris Daniels, I think they take Chris Daniels and focus on DEs next year. Warrior, Brown, Kongbo, Byrd, and probably Dickerson are all takes before Daniels, but I don't think J. Bailey is.

I could definitely see the staff saying we just need one of the two to go along with Johnson. Secure one and move on. Just a couple spots left and the clock is ticking.

Nope. No way you ever turn away a DT of their caliber. Do what you must, but if both want to come, they both come.

We got three last year. We could have got 3-4 this year if the coaches wanted. Like a lot of positions quality DTs are becoming more plentiful with kids getting bigger stronger faster at a younger age. Much like Brown and Daniels being takes this year, I have no doubt there will be quality DTs in 2017. Sign needs. I don't think we see Daniels and Brown in the last three taken. Jmo

I honestly think some of you just don't understand there's a limit to the number of players we can sign. This idea that we can oversign and somehow make room every year is ludicrous.

That's what I said earlier in this thread. They will never ever turn away athletic HS Dts.If he and Brown want in both will be Vols on NSD.

Had anyone other than OV said they passed on Victor no one would have believed it. Once your needs are meant, you don't keep signing kids at that position as you have other needs.

Boom! We gots 47 DL guys! We have no LBs, but who cares! We gots tackles son!

It's not ludicrous. It is what will happen. Not just here, but almost everywhere.

I agree that there are a limited number of spots available, and CBJ can't unfortunately take them all.

With that said, I suspect an existing commit or two would be told to look around if both Brown and Daniels, along with the other top serious targets left on UT's board, wanted to sign.

The press has started calling coaches out for this tactic. UT already got called out over Hart. Harbaugh was called out the other day for pulling a scholly to a guy who had been committed for some time. Too much of this will hurt us, so I don't think Butch would do it, not this close to NSD. If we were months away, I would say there was a good chance of that happening, but we're like a week and a half away. The bridges that would be burned aren't worth it in the long run.
