'17 AL LB Will Ignont (UT commit 10/26/2016)

I know a few people in the area. My wife went to school at north jackson. I'm from just across the state lime in tennessee.

Ran into one of his coaches today at the gas station on my way home and he was headed to north jackson. He said he is a good character kid who has made minor mistakes like any other kid. Also said he has only been playing lb for 2 years now. I asked him about the bad weight that I have read earlier in the posts and he said the kid has no bad weight. Said about a 32 waist but is very strong in his upper body. He also said he is 110% sure he will stick with the vols. He comes from a great family and is a head hunter with great instincts. That's about all I got while we was standing in line checking out.

You got all that at the gas station ?

Good job !

How has bates turned out so badly? 4*, top prospect that everyone wanted, now can't even make 3rd string?

Very few practice and game reps due to injury. He's just not developed as a result, and thus been passed up by similarly talented players (and some better ones) who haven't been subject to the trainer's table as often.

Unfortunately, we could remove "bates" from your post and fill in several other names like Blair for one. Guess that's why they have 85 scholarships when only half that many play in a game. Recruiting is an inexact science and I don't think UT is any worse at it than their competition. Some kids just never develop I guess?

Just sounds like one of those misses that happen every year.

He was clearly an great prospect with all the tools and bloodlines you would want. Just doesn't click for some kids. I thought he would be great here.

He is never healthy enough to get in full spring or summer field or strength work. He always has bad timing for injuries each year in offseason. I think that is his biggest issue. Ability is there. He probably needs to want it more in film room etc as well. He needs strength but can't do that with your arm
In a sling every offseason

Too skinny for LB; too slow for safety. Bad combination.

He's just not very good. Gaulden plays in the box all day. Bates has 30 lbs on him.

Bates just isn't very good.

Visiting LSU. Says if coaches changes are made he gone.

Well I sincerely doubt Shoop and Thig will be gone, so unless he's really attached to Martinez, I don't think he will have anything to worry about (unless he just wants to go to LSU).

I think you need to be a little more specific with what type of changes. I am guessing that as long as Shoop and Thig are still here, then he is solid.

“Growing up, I wanted to go to Auburn or LSU, but I fell in love with Tennessee and I’m 110-percent committed to Tennessee,” Ignont said. “The only one reason I’d de-commit was if something happened like the coaching staff got fired between now and February. But if there’s anywhere else I’d be, it’s LSU. I’m solid with Tennessee, but if anything changes, the only other place I’d go is LSU.”

“Really, that’s where I wanted to go when I de-committed from Alabama,” Ignont said. “I decided to take a step back, play my senior year, and when I visited Tennessee for the Alabama game, I fell in love. LSU has always been a place that felt like home for me. I’ve always had interest in them, but I’m not going to commit and de-commit. I’m not going to de-commit from Tennessee just because now they (LSU) knows what they want. I’m going to stick with the team that wanted me from the beginning, the team I’m committed to unless something changes.” - Per SEC Country

He didn't really say in the interview I saw. My guess is if Thig is gone he gone since he is his primary recruiter and position coach.
