'17 AL LB Will Ignont (UT commit 10/26/2016)

Sounds like he's talking about Butch, not particular position coaches. Sounds like he's solid to me. Butch isn't going anywhere

“Growing up, I wanted to go to Auburn or LSU, but I fell in love with Tennessee and I’m 110-percent committed to Tennessee,” Ignont said. “The only one reason I’d de-commit was if something happened like the coaching staff got fired between now and February. But if there’s anywhere else I’d be, it’s LSU. I’m solid with Tennessee, but if anything changes, the only other place I’d go is LSU.”

“Really, that’s where I wanted to go when I de-committed from Alabama,” Ignont said. “I decided to take a step back, play my senior year, and when I visited Tennessee for the Alabama game, I fell in love. LSU has always been a place that felt like home for me. I’ve always had interest in them, but I’m not going to commit and de-commit. I’m not going to de-commit from Tennessee just because now they (LSU) knows what they want. I’m going to stick with the team that wanted me from the beginning, the team I’m committed to unless something changes.” - Per SEC Country

Thanks, Bruin, for leaving out a lot of pertinent information in this article.

I agree here, sounds to me like he means if Butch and his staff are fired, not if Butch makes changes to his staff. Let's hope anyway, he seems like a good one.

That article isn't the one I saw. He did rave about the Vols in the video I saw but did saw he would OV to LSU and was solid to Tenn unless there were staff changes. My post was 100% accurate.

He is referring to Thigpen. I initially thought Thig would be gone after thisbyear but starting to look like the changes will be st DL and CB instead

He didn't really say in the interview I saw. My guess is if Thig is gone he gone since he is his primary recruiter and position coach.

Your guess per usual is wrong. He was implying Butch Jones and his entire staff based on the fan response after the Vandy game.

Thig is likey safe IMO. Strip retires, Willie gets the can, Scott takes the FAU job, Mahoney doesn't get a new contract. I think we make 4 moves, 5 including Rock as the head S&C guy

thats 5 and since we didnt have a strength coach i will give that a .5 so 4.5 coaches replaced. lws prediction.

I agree. Thig is really Butch's guy IMO. The big recruits will see Thig most of the time, hence Trey Smith. I think Thig is safe, Strip would be safe if he doesn't retire, Scott is safe if he decides to stay, Azzanni bought himself another year unless he gets a low end HC job, DeBo is safe and Shoop is safe. All JMO

I also think DeBo will move to a Co-OC and either take over TEs or OL. My hope is TEs. With our OL problems we need some new eyes IMO. DeBo helped last year, but we still had our struggles.

Why is that funny? You dont agree?
You commit to everything that relates to you. You have to factor in everything from a HC, a position coach, a university, the department you want to pursue at the school, the people/players at that school, etc.

To say "the position coach shouldn't matter, hit the road pal", who are you to tell anyone what should matter to them in their decision lol? You an advisor to high school athletes? He even said "a coaching change", he didn't say if Thig gets canned unless I'm missing something. Who's to say he didn't mean if Shoop leaves or if Butch gets canned, etc?

If thats truly his attitude, then he can hit the road. A player should commit to a university, not a position coach.

Do you say the same thing when Butch cuts a kids offer. It works both ways, this kid doesn't owe Tennessee anything. His job is to find the best situation for himself and Butch's job is to get the best players he can to come to Tennessee.

So it sounds like we got to LB's from LSU because they didn't know who they'd rather take. I'll allow it

Where did he clarify he meant head coach?

Thanks in advance

Now please share with me where he infers a position coach leaving or being let go could cause him to change his mind. You apparently live in your own bubble if you didn't see all of the noise about the natives picking up pitchforks and wanting to fire the HC. Cottam even retweeted a comment from a fan asking Butch to leave. So either your reading comprehension is the drizzling sh1ts or your stirring up drama. I'll let you decide which one it is.
