'17 class has 1 OL commit

2017 class has 1 verbal commitment for an offensive lineman. I believe Tennessee currently has 25 commitments. How many can Butch sign? Why the absolute ineptness of having or recruiting high quality lineman on the offensive side? I just simply don't get why he doesn't sign 4/5 a class......

We've done pretty well the past 2 years with OL recruiting.

If you look across the board at "team needs " you'll see defensive back and LB are much more pressing.

WR as well.

I think we add Moore and Trey Smith.

Tatum and Johnson from 2016 are studs. Richmond and Boulware just need reps. Jones and Hall are only sophmores as well. Thomas and Robertson still have a whole year after 2016.

We're okay.

But we needs guys who can run and catch and tackle.

Do you realize in last 3 cycles we have recruited high prized recruits like Dontavious Blair, Coleman Thomas, Jashon Robertson, Drew Richmond, Jack Jones, Venzell Bullaware and few more. Some may have gone as well as expected but these were all high prize recruits. 'Absolute ineptness' should be used to describe you not recruiting of OL. As for this year, we are in the mix for 3 quality lineman. It is only October son.

Well that makes zero sense!

Well, wouldn't it be great if every 3* was another Cam Sutton, then we could all celebrate the 20 3*s in this class. But reality, stars do matter. All you have to do is look at the last 5-7 top ranked classes and tell me how they've done on the field.

Sure, and if someone is critical of the class then, they'll be treated with "why not wait until these guys actually get on the field?" posts.

Well first all, he wasn't being critical he was asking a question and I answered him. If you don't want your questions answered, don't ask. And what was not true about my answer? We are in on several OL's why not just let it play out and see how many we end up with? But please continue with what you do best. Complain about everything. :)

Well, we are also waiting to see how the season plays out, but in the meantime it's ok to analyze and discuss the Bama game, etc. In the same sense, it's perfectly ok to raise concerns about how our class looks right now with only 1 Oline commit for a unit that is currently underperforming.

Where did I say you can't discuss recruiting? Let me slow down for you maybe that will help. He asked a question and I answered. You don't like my answer that is your problem and you can't show me where I was wrong in my answer because until they sign the papers we don't have a class yet. You just want to argue. I will now let you argue with yourself. And GBO!!!!!! :hi:

We are in on about 4 or 5 top OL. If people have not caught on, you have to wait until National Signing Day to see who we sign. It's only October people. Our class will be fine.

We are getting good lineman and it appears we will get more. I'm more worried about how we are developing them, which goes back to coaching. I don't think we'll ever have a really good line as long as Mahoney is here. JMO.

Still have Mahoney and in 4 yrs our OL has sucked. They could land 7 5*s and they still don't have the OL coach to teach them anything. Maybe Butch will finally replace him but then again he probably don't see the OL as being a problem. At least so far he hasn't addressed the issue
