Florida state, Alabama, Auburn, and Arkansas all offered him just to name a few... he looks very underrated. Good pickup IMO if he sticks

Ok, now THIS is what a commitment looks like to a conditional offer with about 13 stipulations in it the recruit must meet to sign.

He leaves the door WIDE open.

Apparently one of the fastest players in the nation. Great pick up if we can hold on to him.

Last season for the Clearwater Central Catholic Marauders, he made an impact in several areas. He recorded 665 rushing yards (12.3 yards per attempt) on 54 carries and scored 12 touchdowns; 32 catches, 593 yards (18.5 yards per catch), three touchdowns; 69 tackles (38 solo), two tackles for loss, three interceptions, 21 pass breakups and one fumble recovery.

Cotman’s speed sticks out on film right away and he runs away from and avoids defenders effortlessly. His attention to detail, he says is another great asset.

“Attention to detail. Doing the little things, running the routes right, running the routes they say five yards, [run] five yards, when they say 12 yards, [run] 12 yards. Attention to detail. Looking the ball in, making a key block for your running back, things like that.”

Even though Cotman is an offensive player he tries to model his game after Chicago Bear great and NFL hall of famer Dick Butkus. “It’s kind of weird but Dick Butkus. I always wanted to play like him. He was so aggressive and nasty and brought it 110 percent every play,” he said.

CCC famed 22-year head coach John Davis, first among active head coaches in Pinellas County for wins, knows a thing or two about talent. He’s overseen NFL pro-bowlers like Ernest Givins. Davis instantly recognized Cotman would be a bonafide superstar. “Most freshmen aren’t ready for the mental or speed aspects of the varsity level,” Davis said. “In his first game, he had two TDs, and I immediately knew he’d be special. You couldn’t deny his speed or ball skills.”

...“I’ve only seen him tracked down twice in his entire career when he hits the second level,” Longtime CCC assistant Dan Krause said. “All Cotman needs is a little bit of daylight and he’s gone.”

Davis realizes Cotman’s game is lethal. “He’s the closest I’ve coached to Ernest Givens in his ability to run, and he might become better,” Davis said. “He makes those kind of plays on the sidelines where you yell at him for doing the wrong thing. Then he breaks it for a TD and everyone are high-fiving each other. He sure makes us coaches look pretty darn good.”

"I called coach Scott to let him know how I feel about Tennessee, and I told him I could see myself being a Vol and I told him I wanted to commit," Cotman explained.

"It's just a great opportunity in Knoxville. Coach Larry Scott has been on my trail for a long time and I like when coaches show effort in trying to get me to play for their school," Cotman said. "Also, I can really see myself playing there and they only have a few more spots and I've been liking the school for a long time so I just thought it was a good opportunity right now. I'll be up in a few weeks and I'll take one of my officials up there."

"They got a lot of defensive backs on the field at one time and with my speed and coverage ability I can fit into their program really good," Cotman said ."But, also, I can show them that if the want me on offense I can play on offense. If they want me on kick returns, punt returns, I'll take any opportunities and won't turn any opportunities down."

Holy cow. I just noticed something. Is this strange? He put under his commitment that he is still open to recruiting. Now this may sound like a conspiracy theory, but do you think prospects are committing to places that do not pay out in order to up the ante to other schools that will make financial offers?

As a side note I am very happy we got this kid and in no way do I think this is what he is doing. It just occurred to me that if programs are paying students large sums to go to their program, that this is something that would happen a lot, given that an athlete would want to also get money out of their commitment.
