'17 FL DE Deandre Johnson (UT commit 12/12/16)

Probably not an early contributor if he was a DT. Where does he project?

Pretty sure as a DE. IIRC we are in on another bigger DE that is projected to move to tackle. The lack of true DTs and big bodies in general are concerning to me

I believe that Matthew Butler is the DE that they are projecting as a DT.

Can we not recruit DTs who are playing the position already in high school? I don't mind taking a prospect every year that has the frame to grow into the position, but it seems that is all that we recruit. We need at least three true DTs this cycle.

I believe most see him as a pass rush specialist. So I'm thinking he'll stay at end.

He is disruptive in the backfield. Ignorant about the level of competition but he seemed to play with good leverage and uses his hand well to shed blocks and get around defenders. He could be special at DE.

Completely agree. We have only 1 committed and he's only 16 years old. Doubt he could help year 1. Wonder why we aren't getting any other interest? We have huge huge amount of early playing time available!!!

DT's that are ready to contribute day 1 are hard to come by. They are heavily pursued early and often.

There's not a lot of SEC ready high school defensive tackles sitting around waiting for the phone to ring at this point.

Bennett and Crosby are a decent haul but we do need at least one more. Very unlikely that you are going to find a guy between now and signing day who is ready to make a big impact next fall.

Yes true and with Tuttle possibly missing next season it's even more important now. Think there's any JUCO guys we will make a run at?

We've at least usually heard some names by now on the Juco front.

I find it a bit odd. Maybe OL is being converted to DT? Wonder if Mosley can contribute there. Or if butcher can finally get involved.

Always heard good things about Mosley at DT then they move him to the OL and all I hear is crickets.

Don't forget about Eric Crosby, he is a true DT.
