'17 FL OLB Santino Marchiol (Texas A&M commit)

We don't need another slow LB coming into the system, thought we learned to get away from that... hope those numbers are wrong.... surely we can do better..... getting tired of all the media hype around all these instate stars that are looking elsewhere.... by summer we need some higher profile players to commit.. Until Bates actually puts together a couple of actual good game performances, he is getting closer to a huge whiff....I know he has been hurt for two years, but that has to tell you something right there... name another SEC program that has top tier guys staying out/hurt for more than an entire season, much less two... hope he heals and proves me wrong but at this point, not seeing him as a starter while here.

not sure if he started or was just getting serious playing time his Freshman year before he got hurt. But no way to say he has been a bust. injured the last two years and we are switching to a system that uses 3 linebackers more than 2.

Just curious, since Butch has been the coach, what slow LB's are you referring to?

A.J. Johnson wasn't the fastest linebacker either but still turned out to be pretty good despite getting in trouble later on.

Seems GA lost a pretty fair running back last year... Career ending perhaps. Bama lost an all-world receiver a couple of years back. LSU has lost QBs DTs RBs. How many examples do you need? People get hurt in football. I can't believe you would attribute injuries or slow recovery to a remarkable athlete to... What, coaching? Come on...

While Marchiol's 40 time in Charlotte was unimpressive, his 4.23 shuttle time ranks 4th nationally among the 2,000+ Opening participants weighing 220+.

And for a linebacker, a good shuttle time is much more important than a 40 time imo

How do you make a GIF show up?

You don't try the youtube way. There is a little portrait option (little yellowish box) you click it and then enter the URL of the image. Like so: The brackets are easy for it: and can be done on mobile even if you type out the bracket info. If you click quote, you can see the code format. See below for end result.

His shuttle time was unreal. By far the most important quality in a LB prospect. Dude is a big-time prospect for sure. Would be a great pickup.

I'm curious how the linebacker position plays out. I really like this guy and Wooten too. I like Foster as well. The one guy out of Georgia who can fly we have to keep him. I can see any of those other three taking the other two guys spots. One reason I like Santino is because he plays at IMG, it would be nice to get some end roads in there.

Edit: Bembry is the one I really like. He has a different gear.

End roads made me laugh.

JRM was clocked at a 4.8 coming out of HS. Since watching him play, he doesn't look like a 4.8 to me. I would also question when that time was recorded. Sophomore year? Freshman year?

Well, all is fair in love, war, and recruiting. Time to turn the tables and turn the negative recruiting around to some other programs like Ole Miss.

In light of recent events, this quote is unintentionally hilarious

Recruiting is really starting to turn around!! Think we moved into top 25 after Crosby commit, and we'll probably move into top 20 after Marichiol commit. Then Wooten is likely to commit to us as well which could possibly move us into top 15. Our expected recruiting is starting to shine through.

Too late...many have already wrung their hands off!

I thought it was either or with Wooten and Marchiol not both?
