'17 FL RB Timothy Jordan (UT signee)

Kelly is pretty good but let's not kid ourselves, he is not at Kamara's level--and neither is this kid; that's pretty obvious, but wish him the best. What high school?

Interesting...with only a little research I found this...

2016

John Kelly 98 carries 630 yds 6.4 ypc

Alvin Kamara 103 carries 596 yds 5.8 ypc

I will be interested to see how we use this kid.... it looks like he would be a good third down back... seems like he has the characteristics to be put in the slot... wonder why he was never tried there or arleaar give him some routes out of the backfield... this kid shines when he gets in open space...you gotta put kids in position to succeed and that would of been one of them... he is strong and he is an upfield runner makes very precise cuts and gets upfield not a lot of wasted movement... can be flashy.... he actually kind of remindes me of Kevin Faulk the third down back for New England... just seems he has that fit... what is his 40 time? Didn't seem super explosive but runs very well good acceleration... I will be really intrigued to see how they use him... he will be one to keep an eye on....

Jordan is bigger, faster, stronger than Hayden and has played much better competition. Yeah, probably not on par with Etienne, but probably better than Coleman.

I'm not impressed with Etienne in that system. He's not having to create at all on most of his runs. They are almost like FB gives up the middle.

His screen name is armchair so there's that.

And Kelly was younger by two years. 1500+ if he stays healthy all year.

You and I and a couple of others have been preaching Kelly for a while. I was thinking 1400+, but I can see 1500+ too, depending on health and how many touches other RB's get.

Kentucky his Freshman year sold it for me. He was popping out of piles for big yards. You could already see the vision and burst.

I hope he gets more touches in the passing game too. He only had six last year. had between 8 & 9 yds per catch, only slightly lower than Kamara.

I definitely like Kamara as a back and am glad we had him, but I agree with you, Kelly is already, at minimum, equal to where Kamara was.

Tom Smith's HS tape was like that. He basically ran through large holes or behind blocking. The OL looked that good.

“That’s what recruiting is all about — just kind of being patient, finding that right kid,” Gillespie said. “This kid in the Lakeland area started out his first four, five games just skyrocketing. He’s a former basketball player that really dedicated himself to football this last season, and when you put the film on, you see a raw athlete, a guy that you want to put in space, a guy that displays toughness.

“We took our whole offensive staff down there and watched him play basketball about two weeks ago and said, ‘I see why.’ The kid competes. He’s a 3-point shooter. He’s a lay-up guy, a steal-the-ball guy, a chest-bumping guy. The fans go crazy when he’s on the court.

“I’ll tell you what: That guy reminds me a lot of the kid that hosted him — John Kelly. It’s just about being able to find those small details in a kid that you know has what it takes to be a running back in this league and also be a guy that come help us as a true freshman.”
