'17 GA ATH Marquez Bembry (UT signee)

Does he have any caveat that would prevent him from being groomed for the ILB? He has mad athletic ability.

A lot of people were thinking pure DE or hybrid, but I think it's possible with his athleticism that he is a strong side LB in Shoop's defensive scheme. Everyone seems to be stuck thinking that we still use a LEO and primarily a 2 linebacker set. That was out of necessity and with Jancek running the defense. Watching Shoop at Vandy and PSU, he prefers to run more base 4-3 and use nickel and dime sets in passing situations. This allows him to be much more versatile, unconventional, and creative in how he attacks teams. I think many will be surprised at the new stars we see on defense this year. Especially at the LB position. We have a lot more talent there than many give us credit for. Shoop has one of the best defensive minds in the country and is a master at utilizing a players best attributes in his scheme. Chris Weatherd would have been a monster under Shoop.

But but ....... He's only s three-star with the recruiting services. How could he possibly be good enough to play in SEC.

I've got no problem with 3* kids. Every class will have some. I've posted in many 3* recruits threads that I'd take them. The problem is having 20 of them committed.

Bembry is a keeper.

Crunching, I'm curious which ones you find acceptable and which ones aren't...I have no intention to attack you over it...I have a similar list myself...and I agree that bembry is acceptable

I think Shoopie knows what he wants for this D. He is one thing that has changed. I am not worried about three stars on D if the shoop wants them.

In reality all of them could be acceptable at some point, just not in June or July. As for a list I would have in the "not now list"?

Coleman
Tucker
Moore(If he commits today).
Page
Jones
Burnam
Cotman(Not till he visited).

There's at least a few.

That's fair...I would disagree on Moore (we need an interior guy or two...especially one that could be a center...I think he's great for this role), Cotman (I'm concerned about CB and I think this guys speed and size warrants taking that "no visit" chance) and Coleman (I just like his game, now if he ends up the highlight of the running back class then ill be disappointed for sure)

I liked Ross more on the interior. I have no issue at all with Cotman. I actually might try him on offense as well. I just would have told him, "I'll take your commitment, when you visit Knoxville". That's all I needed to see there. Never was a huge fan of Coleman. His quotes about holding out hope for an LSU offer would have had me telling him good luck elsewhere.

I agree except Moore is a take and I would add Lawson to the list.

Crunchy Leb, which 4 star kids would you cut based on your evaluations? History shows that many will be busts and there is no use in signing a kid who is a bust, so who ya cutting?

We only have 3.

Gray, keeper.

Crosby, keeper even with the drop in ranking.

Breyon Gaddy, keep. Athletic big body to help clog the run games in the SEC. I like Brandon G even more.

We have 6: add Cotman, Bennett, and Bumphus. From 2013-2015 about 40% of 4 stars were busts.

A conservative estimate says 2 of the 6 will be busts. Who ya dropping?
