Whether you want to admit it or not BB knows what he's talking about. You should really stop being a miserable prick to everyone. You're in every thread trying to start drama. Grow up troll!

Sorry if you dont like my posting, thats what the ignore button is for. I encourage you to use it.

I am curious though, do you know BB personally? Are you guys friends? If not, then what makes you so sure he knows what he is talking about? Many people on here have claimed all kinds of things. I mean its a message board you know.

I dont really think that much. I am not qualified. Thats why I trust the people who get paid to make these evaluations.

But I am sure after you give your analysis and it is positive, people who believe in you will just eat this guy up and think he is a great addition. All while Alabama and other programs pull in the big time, highly rated guys. But here's to hanging on to that "but Sutton was only a 3*" branch. Because we all know, recruiting rankings mean nothing.

Sutton had an offer to play CB at Florida when only Mack Alexander and VHIII were the only other two that had commutable offers. Kind of a sign that he wasn't a normal 3 star.

Oh and on this kid I have no opinion. Nice first pick on his video. I'm not commenting one way or the other big guy. 😎😎😎😎😎

Don't bother guys. Most people cannot possibly look past a player's star rating.

I wish Tony would have trolled, left everything accurate, but given him 5 stars. Place would have gone nuts

I don't think there is nothing wrong with fans wanting the best players on their team. I'm glad the young man is Vol but I still would like to have elite talent on my team so we can start winning big. To be fair CBJ and co has already had difficulty developing talent so folks will be skeptical

Some 3* shine, some 5* transfer mid-season, some of each live up to their relative ranking, it's all fair enough

What is irritating is 98% of those complaining do nothing besides view their star rating. Use it as one of several tools, and don't be a star sheep.

I like the kid's measurables, program strength and film

I don't blindly accept any recruit as awesome, and have been respectfully vocal of when I'm not a fan. There are a few guys on board I'm not big on. I happen to like this one

Not commenting on his number of stars, but more importantly does this signal we are out of the running for Gibbs and Wade? Limited room left (if any) and this guy apparently was only offered 4 days ago? Seems to speak volumes

I don't care about the services or ratings. Watching the film, I see a kid that is elite in every aspect with the exception of top end speed. I think he could be a great safety prospect. Speaking of safeties, Nigel Warrior looked amazing yesterday.

Not sure.

Maybe after seeing his most recent film, he ended up higher on the board

Since you apparently have to be a sunshine pumper to believe in this kid, I'll share some perspective from this VFL that believes in the evaluations of our coaching staff.

Most people only consider the 3 major recruiting services when evaluating the worthiness of a prospect. I consider our coaching staff to be a recruiting service, a 4th major service, if you will.

When ESPN reports a sports-related item, I don't wait for Fox Sports and/or CBS to confirm it. I understand that ESPN is the industry leader, and I understand that they hit the mark first way more often than not. Likewise, I consider our coaching staff to be the industry leader, and I don't wait for Rivals or 247 to confirm the validity of a prospect. Our coaches have a job and a lifestyle on the line. Rivals and 247 want your $9.99.

The Cam Sutton's of the world aren't nearly as rare as some of you guys make them out to be. Once again, I point to Eddie Jackson. We were first on the scene to that unranked/2-star DB, and our fans loathed the offer. 3-4 years later, we offer Shawn Shamburger, and our fans once again loathe the offer. This time, I'm reading that we'll never compete with Bama's Eddie Jackson types by recruiting 2-stars, the ultimate irony.

Let's also not forget that Rivals, 247, and ESPN base a lot of their ratings on offer lists, the obvious indicator of who the real "recruiting service" is truly.

I don't care to argue any of this. If you don't agree, that's fine, I respect that. But us "glass half-full" folks can be realists, too. That's not reserved for the "glass half-empty" posters.

According to the article on 247, the kid is 19. Originally from Alabama, he had to move to Georgia so he could play football his senior year. Played at Theodore High School in Alabama.

"A one time Louisiana Lafayette commitment, Shamburger moved from Alabama to Colquitt County High School, one of Georgia's top programs, and saw his stock go up throughout the fall. In recent weeks he picked up offers from both Ole Miss and Tennessee.

Even before making his way to Tennessee, Shamburger had high expectations about Tennessee and the Vols did more than just meet them.

"My coaches spoke highly of them and they said I would love the atmosphere, and I did. It was my first visit up here and I'm on cloud nine right now," Shamburger said. "It's amazing. It wasn't even that big of a game, Tennessee Tech, and it was amazing. It was pretty overwhelming.

"I talked to coach Butch and he made me feel like I was at home. Coach Butch, coach (Tommy) Thigpen and coach (Willie) Martinez, I loved it all. "We clicked because I love their enthusiasm about the game. I love their passion for the game. They showed me they have the will to win," Shamburger said. "They showed me I can come in and earn playing time and do something special and that's the key."

Ole Miss and Auburn were the two teams Shamburger was considering along with the Vols. Shamburger said that, again, his move across the state line to play for Colquitt County helped his stock tremendously. "I always believed in myself but no one wanted to take that chance on me because I didn't play against big schools and big-time competition. Then, they saw me play and they trust my coaches."

Another Moseley project?

Nah...this kid looks pretty good. Eman was always going to be a hard project. I just wish we could pull some bona fide great CBs. For the record I don't think Wade is as good as his rating, and I don't think Shamburglar is as bad as his. But neither one would make us forget Cam.

I'm fine with the evals of Martinez and Shoop on any d-back as long as Butch does not override it and make him a receiver (Byrd). If a guy is clearly a CB, don't make a S out of him and vice versa (Abernathy/Gaulden).

When they do take lesser rated, they have probably whiffed on more proven, highly sought after, higher ranked recruits unless they have a lot of room in the class (which they don't). We all know how Butch "manages" the recruiting class and makes room for higher rated guys on their board so there is still hope for an elite guy.

I've lost more faith in the star system than I have in our recruiting. Eternal optimism!!!
