'17 GA WR Jeremiah Holloman

Story up on Rivals. Anybody with a sub care to give details? :)

“Tennessee is still high on my list right now but I haven’t really sat down and broken down my favorites into a top four or five schools. I’ll probably do that at the end of the summer but I’m not sure right now,” Holloman said following Saturday’s visit.

“I just want to make sure I take my time and look at the different schools to make sure I have a good idea of what each program has to offer,” he said of his plans moving forward.

“It’s a family atmosphere. I really enjoy being here because everyone is so accepting of the person I am, I feel like I really fit in here.”

“There was a lot of one-on-one time with the coaches which I really enjoyed but the best part was just hanging out with the different recruits and getting to know people,” he said of the day. “It was just different being able to hang around with all the recruits and stuff. It was exciting to see how many top players were here today.”

“Some of us were looking earlier and saw where they went all the way from No. 22 to ninth. It was real interesting to see all the commitments.”

“It was a lot of one-on-one (hanging out), but outside of that, it was good just hanging with the group,” he said. “That’s the highlight of the day, hanging out with the other recruits. I know it’s gonna be fun every time I come up to Tennessee. It’s never a dull moment here. Being up here, being around everyone, it’s just like a family atmosphere. I’m really open to being down here, because everyone is accepting me as the person I am. I could really fit in here. I know that.”

Holloman watched in amazement as Tennessee added eight verbal commitments on Orange Carpet Day, rising from the fringes of the top 25 to the top 10 before the day ended. And Holloman said he knew that because he and others kept refreshing 247Sports’ Team Recruiting Rankings throughout the day.

“It was real interesting,” he said. “The jump that they had, that was really crazy. They went from like No. 22 to No. 9. We were looking at it during the day.”

Holloman — the nation’s No. 220 overall prospect and No. 28 wide receiver prospect in the 2016 industry-generated 247Sports Composite — named Tennessee his leader at one point in the process, and the Vols have never fallen from his top list of schools, but he said he never felt pressured to join the pack who committed on Saturday.

“I’m still reserved about it,” he said. “That’s all I’m doing — just making sure I’m taking my time and looking at every school.”

“I know I could really fit in here and fit in the offense, too,” he said. “They definitely spread the ball around, and I know I can be a dominant receiver in that kind of offense.”

Holloman said there’s not a specific checklist in his head for picking the right school, but he said he’d know it when he saw it.

“It’s not something like specific anyone has to do,” he said. “I’m just picking the situation that’s best for me — like, the school, the program, the playing time, the style of offense, the things that are gonna prepare me for the next level and just help me get better as a person.”

This is why it's crucial to expand our passing game this season. We won't continue to get elite WR's if they don't believe we can give them the touches they deserve.

This is more of a general statement though, not insinuating anything about Holloman.

So with Nixon's decommittment, does that mean we have Holloman on deck to commit or are they situationally unrelated?

From Rivals:

IN HIS WORDS: “Tennessee is probably talking to me most right now,” Holloman said. “I’ve been talking to them a lot for a long time and I know those coaches the best maybe.”
RIVALS REACTION: Tennessee, Georgia and Auburn seem like the frontrunners to land Holloman. And while the Volunteers are most active in his recruitment, calling UT the clear leader would be presumptuous. Both UGA and Auburn have also positioned themselves well.

do tell...

I don't remember the exact quote but something to the effect of...... questions about how effective of a SEC WR he could be...no big surprise...we are in it for several other players with a high ceiling. I believe Zach Dobson was even mentioned as a new player they were taking another look at as well.

With all the talent we are bringing in, we are still thin at WR and DT long-term-- those guys should be lining up and we can still push early playing time.... hope J Jennings has been continuing to improve in the off-season because we are going to need every WR to step up, and hope Byrd is ready early... who is the slot/burner WR we are going after now that Nixon has dropped?

I would say we lead tbh

Vols are definitely the clubhouse leader right now, but this one goes until NSD I think. Holloman just seems to love the attention. I think UGA, Auburn, and UT have all had the lead at different times and it sounds like he is telling each staff good things and really stringing it out. Everyone feels like they are still "in it" for the kid and that usually means the kid doesn't even know.

Honestly, I'm really interested to see what he looks like in season this year with pads on. He has looked great in camp, it'll be fun to see how it translates.

Callahan at 247 didn't directly say Nixon re-opening his recruitment was related to Holloman specifically; however, he did say that UT has several guys still on the board, such as Holloman, Higgins, and Payton, and therefore, Nixon looking at other options was not completely unforeseen.

Is that the smallest hint of "we didn't want him anyway" i'm starting to detect....:)

Oh no, he's a take. I don't play that game. :p I think, unless he just tanks this season, that he is a take at any point for our staff.

Our WR board is probably something like this:
Collins
Bishop
Holloman
Webb

In that order but with all four being takes at any point. We've got the room and the need. Collins is a pipe dream, I think we get Webb. Bishop and Holloman are toss-ups but not trending our way right now.
