'17 IN QB Hunter Johnson (Former UT Commit 8/23/15) (Clemson commit)

Sorry dudes, I heard he was going to publicly announce tonight. I am quite certain that he called CBJ earlier today and committed to Tennessee.

And it's just as easy to make stuff up - an insider's motto

eazy has brought legit info in the past. On top of that, I think it speaks volumes that Johnson canceled his ND visit, and Wiltfong changed his crystal ball pick from NDto us.

So is it that he COULDN'T have committed? Because we didn't hear a formal announcement? Don't those usually come out Sunday or Monday? Resume turf war. :hi:

I hope you are right. I guess Atlanta Vol has made me doubt any inside info

He didn't affect me...I pegged him for a clown early. He could've proved me wrong but still hasn't. So I'm riding wid it. :aggressive:

What happened with AtlantaVol? I missed it, did he turn out to be an L-7 weenie?

No recent updates...that country club must've fired it's towel boys. Anybody take him up in his ticket offers? :)

Not calling you out, but it's pretty easy to get on the board this morning and say this after the fact, when nothing went down last night.

The first part was easy. The second part is not.

Hunter has not committed in any way at this point. That's what I was referring to.

I said, maybe 5-6 pages back in this thread, that I was told it would likely be before the season starts. I've already told everyone who my contacts are so I'm not going to keep having to prove myself over and over. I can say with 100% certainty that Johnson is not (silently) committed. When he's ready to commit, it will be public immediately. There's absolutely zero reason for a 2017 QB to be a silent commit. Think about it. He's going to be the centerpiece of our 2017 class.

Just wait on it.

See pg 21-22. It's been rumored for over a month but nothing has been done yet. I still think it'll happen by the 2nd week in Sept.

I may regret opening this can of worms, but how does HJ project into our system? How mobile is he? I know we can adapt it to fit any quarterback, I just think it is more explosive with a running threat back there.

He's very mobile...he's perfect for us.

I don't know how mobile he is but his rushing stats last year were 45 carries for -100 yards. Brownsburg had a weak team, though, so he was probably sacked a lot. He appears to roll out effectively in his highlights and he made some nice runs his freshman year.

Johnson decided to run track this spring for the first time and at the state outdoor meet, he anchored Brownsburg's 4th-place 4x400 relay team.

It wasn’t the best of outings for Brownsburg junior quarterback Hunter Johnson, as he and his teammates knocked the rust off Friday in a scrimmage against host Plainfield. Johnson unofficially completed 6-of-18 passes with an interception.

Of course, the 6-3, 195-pounder also showed why multiple recruiting services have him ranked as the No. 1 QB prospect nationwide in the 2017 class. Johnson averaged nearly 20 yards per completion and tossed a pair of touchdowns in his night’s work, displaying his pro-style skills with a variety of throws.

Brownsburg quarterback Johnson shows why he's highly touted

I know I'll get flamed but I for one am looking forward to when our RB's are the ones we look to for running the ball and the QB is primarily there to throw passes and hand the ball off to the RB's.

That's generally the idea. Butch's offense is never going to be "that" run heavy for the QB ideally. Still having an effective running element from the QB strains the defense. The QB doesn't have to be as effective as Dobbs with his legs.

As far as Johnson, believe or don't believe the "insiders" but everyone close to his recruitment even those tapped in on the Notre Dame side seem to think he is trending UT at this point. Looks very good and we should know for sure in right at a month at the latest.
