I agree for the most part. He has his moments.

However, he can also be melodramatic (the non-existent "diatribe" he was apparently a victim of, not to mention the feigned humility with the Middle English grammar) and hypocritical (criticizing UT fans for "automatic responses" in one breath and then immediately resorting basketball braggadocio during a conversation about football (because that's real original coming from a UK fan)).

You're an ok guy, LC, and I've always found you to be a very gracious poster and complimentary of UT. But I knew posting that quote from Holmes wasn't going to end well for you in this thread. And using UK BB as a retort was definitely not going to go well.

And yes, some Vol fans were going to overreact. That's what fans do. I was banned from Wildcat Lair years ago for something that was no worse than your quote. Just be happy Freak is not the drama queen that the WL mod apparently is.

Thanks. Like I've said to others, I appreciate the nice words a lot.

I generally would have added to the quote, "Not that it means much" or something along the lines of that...because I genuinely believe it's just a recruit being nice to a school he got attention from, and not anything more. I think I was mobile and just was lazy posting the quote after I saw the new thread.

And yes, Freak and the mods on VN are fantastic. I've definitely had my fair share of trouble making, but they've always worked with me and it ends up fine. Freak can never be thanked enough for all the work he does behind the scenes.

Actually, I don't make a habit of it at all. I really dislike the petty squabbling that takes place on here, and I'm usually pretty good at staying out of it. Every now and then though I allow myself to get sucked in. Anyway, you really are a good sport for the most part, and I probably did overreact.

Whether it's this guy or not, I definitely think adding a JUCO DT to the 2017 class is important. IMO we need at least 3 DTs and 1 of those guys needs to show up ready to take on at least a contributing role to replace O'brien.

Well then, excuse me then. By the way, I actually had a nice laugh at your first couple posts. Good stuff.

Same here about the squabbling. I used to pretty much straight up troll. Loved arguing with some of the UT fans here. Got in trouble because of it. I've mellowed in the past few years when it comes to responding to negativity. I understand it, accept it, and have learned to move on from it. It's VN, so the UK stuff will always be here. Gotta just deal with it.

"With the ongoing legal situation involving Alexis Johnson, Tennessee has done its due diligence in trying to find another defensive lineman, specifically a defensive tackle, to add to its class of 2016.

One name we believe that should be watched closely is Hutchinson Community College defensive tackle JJ Holmes. Holmes, a native of Florida, just finished his redshirt freshman season at Hutch so he has three years of eligibility remaining so that's appealing.

Holmes took official visits to both Missouri and Kentucky in January but didn't neither seemed to be the right spot. He had other options as well but decided to hold out and see what was available.

Tennessee isn't alone in their pursuit of Holmes as South Carolina is very much a player as well and could be the landing spot. Holmes will be on spring break next week and it wouldn't be a surprise if he made his way on campus at some point so that's definitely something to watch for."

I noticed a while back that he has already been removed from the official roster. They don't usually do that with players who have just been suspended, do they?

Not sure. If he's been dismissed, why wouldn't they go ahead and announce that, especially with this lawsuit looming? It would show we continue to address these matters when they arise immediately.

Holmes was a 1st-team all-state offensive lineman at Chipley HS in Chipley, FL in 2013. He redshirted at Hutchinson in 2014 and then had an impressive redshirt freshman season last year, racking up 44 tackles & 13.5 TFL including 8.5 sacks.

I'm assuming he played both sides in high school then?

This recruitment just took an interesting turn if he's looking to be a '16 recruit.
