Tennessee continues to host a plethora of big time offensive lineman in the class of 2017. Lexington, Ky., offensive tackle Jedrick Wills could be the best if not one of the best to visit Rocky Top recently and he returned north on I-75 to a good vibe about the Vols.
"It was great," Wills said. "I got to talk to coach (Butch) Jones and coach (Don) Mahoney for sure and develop a relationship with those guys. Got to spend time on campus and hang out with the other recruits and players."
Asked what his favorite part of Orange Carpet day was on Saturday and Wills took the mature approach. It wasn't the game and activities, but the one-on-one time with the staff.
"Just bonding," Wills said. "Just building that relationship and feeling that every player needs when they go to college. Tennessee is in my top ten and I'll eventually narrow things down to five and things are looking good right now."
It's important to spend time with the offensive line coach at each school to get a good feel for the environment he will face ahead. So far, Tennessee has done a nice job of showcasing veteran line coach Don Mahoney.
"Coach Mahoney and I stay in contact on twitter and message and stuff like that," Wills said. "Today was more of a face-to-face relationship and it made me feel better about things."
This marked the third time that Wills has visited Rocky Top. He plans on being back for the Alabama game this Fall. Living in the shadow of Kentucky football will continue to be a factor in his recruitment even if it's small, but he doesn't let the pressure to stay home effect him.
"I don't feel any at all," Wills said. "A lot of guys feed into the pressure, but I just take it my way and think of things through myself."
