I don't know how much of a choice we had. Stoops chose someone he knew and who has Ohio connections...

go figure.

I get the previous relationship thing with Gran. Do they really need more Ohio connections though? They are never going to get the guys OSU wants and they've been in play for those second tier guys since Stoops was hired. Ansley seemed like the only one on the staff who could go into another state and pull decent players.

The football program in general is just a bad job for recruiting. We are a basketball school, who didn't put much effort in the football program. We are stuck in between the south and the north where the talent is. All in all we have to pray whatever coach we get has some major pull outside of KY or that we suddenly begin producing talent like the rest of the SEC.

Til then we are stuck relying on three and low four stars

No doubt the dynamics are tough. Plus the state isn't going through a population boom like Nashville is. NKY is growing but to be honest their football hasn't improved much at all. I just don't think the commitment is there from the lowest levels on up like it is in other states.

Yeah, Stoops hasn't impressed me at all with his staff choices

Ain't bad when you have the greatest program of all time...the problem is we are stuck in a conference that doesnt care

I said from the beginning that UK would be better off playing in a different conference both football and basketball. The ACC would be a good fit IMO.

Ive suggested the ACC switch a lot. Good rivalries, better basketball, easier football but still very competitive.

Agree. Think the UL move was perfect for them and would have been great for UK as well

Nobody is going to leave the SEC because of the income being a member brings to the school. Even if you perennially suck at fb the money makes it worth it, especially now with the SEC Network bringing most SEC schools enormous sums of money.

In 2014-2015, the SEC Network's 1st year of operations, the SEC generated $527.4m in revenues, which was a 62% increase over 2013-2014. The SEC distributed $457.8m of that to the SEC schools, or $32.7m per school, which was a $21m increase per school from the previous year.

SEC rakes in $527.4 million in first year of CFP and SEC Network - CBSSports.com

I can't see many rational ADs and university presidents walking away from that. Instead you figure how to use that extra money to make your program competitive. To UK's credit they appear to at least be trying. Stadium improvements; building or restructuring their training facilities, etc.

But walk away from that kind of money? I don't see that being realistic.

I was talking more about how competitive the football team could be in that environment. Not how realistic it would be. Hard to pass that much cash up

I live in Louisville, and I've never had any problems in the 6 years I've been here.

I live across the river, my hatred goes towards the university mainly, all my friends are uofl guys and that's sucks for me. I'm a superintendent for a demo contractor and see a whole lot of Louisville that people don't see, and their city govt is completely ass backwards when it comes to anything to try and improve. The university itself is a group of thugs run by thugs. There are some nice areas and fun bar scenes but honestly, Louisville is a little city trying real hard to be big and its causing major problems that alot don't see...

You in New Albany? I practice in Louisville, but I have cases from time to time with an attorney out of NA.
