'17 MS RB Cam Akers (FSU commit 12/27)

whew....I thought the fumble vs Florida would be the worst act that Jay had committed against the Big Orange

By all means, let's bring that up and ignore everything else he did as a player and coach here. He did take it to the house in '96, I believe, to beat Bama. But, don't let that get in the way of whatever agenda you're pushing.

he also quit.....maybe it was a better job, but he quit

Someone must like to bite.

LWS isn't right all the time (he'll tell you as much) but he's also very cordial regardless. We disagree probably as much as we agree here going back through the years but he's never been an a$$ in anyway.

That other cat must be having a bad day. Hopefully that turns around for him.

Bama has played 1 top 10 team. USC, and they didn't start playing well till a QB change.

Ohio State played 4 teams in the top 10.

Why would you think I'm kidding?

Besides rank, I don't think Wisconsin and Penn State are as good as represented. They may have a stronger SOS this season but I wouldn't exactly say OSU has been dominant, they've almost lost everyone of those tougher games. Those statistics youre talking about come from weaker competition besides Nebraska.

The way we are doing so far in the Bowl's the SEC is about the 3rd or 4th conference this year really other than bama what outstanding team is there, i just wonder if old bama might be reading the clippings this game against Washington will be closer than most think, they beat LSU 10-0 and really thats it, LSU had a offense they would have beat them.GO VOLS BUCK LITTLE bama and nicky boy, you young guns always take a shot at them any chance you get when my old azz is gone from here i need a true VOL fan to carried the tradition on with the fffffffffffffffffffffffff bombs and taking shot's at little bama'

Ohio State played tougher schedule. This isn't the mid 2000's SEC.

The SEC might send a record number of players to the first round of the NFL draft this spring if Todd McShay's first mock draft is to be believed. I believe 16 of the first 32 picks were SEC players.

The idea the SEC is less talented now is false. Talent is less concentrated than it was in the late 2000s and the coaching might be worse. I mean Urban Meyer and Nick Saban used to coach here at the same time. But overall there is just as much talent.

The SEC is still head and shoulders the best conference overall in terms of talent. Every April during the draft is proof enough.

Didn't say anything about talent.

So all this "get a search firm and find the right person" stuff is just a smokescreen to make it appear an actual search is going on? But really is just a waste of time because Blackburn is going to be the hire?

search firm is already under retainer so we may as well use them.. let them check under covers and be sure those we are looking at are okay..

Well since you say so, it's official. And you don't have to go back to the mid 2000s to find when the SEC was the dominate conference. But good job pushing a false narrative. That's what a lot of you seem to do best.

Well what else are you talking about? Coaches?

If there is more talent now than there was in the mid-2000s, then how could you claim the SEC is down?

I would say talent is more dispersed now. Back then you had Florida and LSU getting top 10 recruiting classes. Then Alabama joined the fray. This made the conference look good cause it was more top heavy like the Big 10 today. However now you have 5 or 6 SEC teams landing top 10 recruiting classes every year. Even marginal programs like Ole Miss are now taking 5 star players almost every year.

Alabama has been able to stay ahead but the rest of the SEC's top teams are just beating each other up.

The SEC is more talented today than its ever been. The NFL draft and recruiting rankings attest to that.

You're out of your mind if you don't think the SEC was down this year. Individual talent or not. There wasn't one consistently strong team outside of Tuscaloosa. Not saying they weren't still the best conference, but not head and shoulders above.

Easy to see, other than bama, the conference is having a down year, pretty significant too.
