'17 MS TE Chase Rogers (Former UT commit)

The thing that was a red flag to me was Chase attending a game we lost. He got upset and left the game and other recruits. He didn't stick around to meet with the coaches. We wouldn't have known about it had his dad not mentioned it, saying he just really likes to win. Thought that was all really weird.

ULL not winning too much so they are in for something

247 shows a bunch of P5 offers for him. Hard to believe all those were noncommitable. Cal, Miss St, Ole Miss, Wake Forest, and then some decent G5s like Colorado St and Ark St. This one is a heck of a mystery.

There is definitely a missing piece to this puzzle. A record setting TE that no major program seems to want. Very interesting to say the least.

Maybe he's just not quite good enough for P5 teams. Lots of kids are really really good in high school but just aren't quite good enough--a little small, a step slow, whatever. Maybe that's all it is rather than the cynicism some want to speculate about.

I guess all those self promoting teeets just didnt work. Or maybe it was the Dad piblically giving coaches ultimatums about how to handle his baby that turned off all the big boys.

Coaches aren't going to put up with that unless you're a game changer. Back in HS, my friend was being recruited by mostly C-USA schools but he was being pressured by UAB to commit soon or they were going to move on. My friend's stepdad didn't like that so he called into a local radio show and blasted the UAB coaching staff. Needless to say, most schools dropped him from their board and he ended up walking on at Auburn

Like most on VN, I was shocked to see that he signed with Louisiana Lafayette. He sure looked like a promising recruit. If he really had the talent to play for one of the Power 5 teams, I might have considered coming as a PWO and earning a scholly.

Best of luck to him. Looks like more time in the weight room and less time on social media might help him reach his goals. And the father needs to be seen and not heard.
