Scout shows five schools with medium interest, also listed in alphabetical order. Tennessee is one of those schools.

It's inconceivable how anyone could suggest Tennessee isn't in Butler's top five.

Went back & edited post #79. Butler is actually listed in the top 5 schools for both Scout & 247 Sports. I could have sworn earlier Scout had Butler just outside the top 5 but after reading Finger's post I went back & checked it again & sure enough they had Butler in their top 5 too. Thanks!

Question on 247:

Do we still lead for Matthew Butler? When is he deciding? What other DL are we still in on?

Callahan's response:

I do think the Vols are in pretty good shape with Butler. He still has a few official visits to take, though, including an official visit to Tennessee. It sounds like that trip could happen either this month or sometime in December, and he would like to decide by December. There are still a bunch of DL on the Vols' radar, including LaBryan Ray, former Alabama commitment Aaron Sterling, Miami commitment Jonathan Garvin, juco DE Javon Kinlaw and even guys like Malik Herring, who's probably a bit of a long shot for Tennessee.

Have heard he wants to stay close to home and that NC State is the likely destination. Garner High is right down the street and is a feeder school for NCSU. He has a cousin there and is good friends with Nyheim Hines. Certainly not over yet, but sounds like that's where he's leaving right now.

"Thigpen, after spending a little more time in Georgia, will join Steve Stripling in North Carolina Thursday where they will see defensive lineman Matthew Butler. "
