'17 NC LB Justin Foster

Interest in North Carolina native Justin Foster has expanded in recent months to include schools as far away as Stanford and as close to home as UNC. Last Saturday, the Crest Senior High School star made a three-hour drive to Knoxville to immerse himself in Orange Carpet Day, a look at Tennessee’s campus and facilities with a dozen or so of his fellow blue chip prospects.
“It was pretty fun. It was different from a lot of other schools I visited,” Foster said… . “Usually most schools bring in like 50 of the top recruits they want and everything, and (Tennessee) brought in like 15 people and the whole day was just focused just on us. We had two coaches with us everywhere we went. We really got to know our coaches and everything and talked with them and had fun.”
The four-star outside linebacker from Shelby played games with the coaching staff and took the opportunity to talk with his main recruiter, special teams coach Mark Elder.
“We came out there and had fun,” Foster said. “We played little games with the coaches and everything and got the whole family involved. It was pretty cool.”

Callahan with the CB to the Vols then had this to say...

"...It's just an early hunch based on Foster naming Tennessee his leader following his visit for Orange Carpet Day. There's obviously a long way to go in that one since he's a 2017 prospect, but the Vols are in pretty good shape with him right now."

I know we're expecting a monster class across the board next year, but our LB haul could end up being absolutely legendary.

Vereen and Brewer both played well.
Vereen was maybe 215 max and Brewer 217?

They both held their ground.

But YES, we are getting some talent.
The days of Christian harris, Savion Frazier, LaMarcus Thompson, Ryan Karl.... blah.. are over

Karl did a pretty good job for us. I don't think he belongs in this list.

I think we could end up with 5-6 5* players in '17. And a handful of high 4* guys too.

Nationdom hopefully will be quiet after that class

"At linebacker, another instate player, Maleik Gray, is a priority for the coaches. Justin Foster is another big-time target for the Vols at linebacker after visiting both this spring and summer." - VQ

He was at dawg night too so shows you how strong we are here to come out of UGA and Clemsons top camps of the summer and still be clear leader

Hopefully he decides to commit to the good guys sometime this fall. It would certainly generate some major momentum moving forward with the '17 class, especially with already having a four star DT.

From VT Rivals site:

Virginia Tech is now one of three schools standing out to Justin Foster, along with Clemson and Tennessee. And like the Hokies, there's something catching his attention about all three.

"My sister goes to Clemson and my family really likes Clemson," Foster said. "And it's just like a family there, a real big family. I like the way the defense is set up. It kinda fits me a little bit better. Tennessee, I really just like the environment up there. It's kinda like family, too. It's just a really nice place up there and the coaches are cool."

This summer, Foster also visited Clemson, Tennessee, South Carolina and Georgia. His next planned visit is back to Virginia Tech on Sept. 7 for the season-opener against Ohio State.

Foster said he hopes to officially trim his list after this season.
