Not a good sign offering a RB this late. Unless they're recruiting him for something else

I said the exact same thing. They(coaching staff) know something that we don't for sure. He is also listed as an ATH though so could be for another position like S because he also played that position in high school.

Nothing wrong with having 5 RB's but I do think this means we are probably out of it on Akers, Etienne, & Felix all in my opinion.

Otherwise we wouldn't have offered another RB this late in the process but he can also play other positions because he's considered an ATH as well.

I'm not reading too much into it but if we thought or knew we were getting Akers, Etienne, or Felix no way this late offer would have came about. You do see where I'm coming from too though right? Thanks buddy.

There are no certainties in recruiting.

I agree with you but I never said there was either there buddy. I was just providing my opinion as to what I think might be going on here by offering this kid this late when we have in reality 3 RB's that we really were after in Akers, Etienne, & Felix.

That tells me with logical thinking that we're probably out of the mold for all 3 of them myself so we put up another RB offer on the table. That's just my 100% opinion. Thanks!

Logical thinking tells me it would be stupid to only go after the three you want one of. If they are the only ones you are recruiting and you miss out on them, then you are screwed. Those might be the top three on the board, but they are going to offer others, as Newt said as insurance. Wouldn't surprise me if we see one or two more RB offers.

In no way means we are necessarily out of it with any/or all of the top 3. It means the coaches are making sure all of their bases are covered. It's smart.

We already have other RB's besides those 3 that we have recruited before making this offer. To name a few are: Anthony McFarland Jr., Deion Walker(JUCO), Kaegun Williams, Bentavious Thompson, Damon Williams, Adarius Lemons, & Timothy Jordan. Those are quite a few choices right there.

Ok...and? We offer 200+ people every year for all positions, yet we only take about 25 on average. Just because they are throwing more offers out there doesn't mean anything one way or the other. It is all part of the process of recruiting. Could it mean something? Yes. Does it mean something? Not necessarily.

I sort of agree with you on your post. It's the timing that's in question for me. We already have double-digit offers on the table this late in the process even before we offered this kid.

Plenty enough at this point in time to choose from. I agree it may or may not mean anything though. However, I think it does myself again just because of the timing. NSD is less than 6 weeks away.

We didn't need to offer another RB unless our plans are to actually use him as an ATH which is the case for him playing both RB & S in high school. We can get one of the other RB's offered that's left if it's a RB we are truly wanting. Thanks!

We're not far off on our thinking then, with the exception of I'll throw this out there....maybe we're not as high on those other RB's as we were when we offered. Maybe they didn't live up to the expectations that were set for them. Just a thought.

I watched some highlights of Lovett & I think we're going to use him as an ATH instead of a RB. This kid is pretty athletic & quick. I see him being experimented at different positions to decide where his best position might be. I think it might be S.

Why let CJ Cotman go if they are going to take another guy similar to him? He was from Florida and most likely played against much better competition.
