'17 TN ATH Amari Rodgers (Clemson commit)

Announced he will be committing within the next month and a half. Just left his Clemson visit.

Not sure why anyone would want to go to Clemson? Middle of no where. Plus after Watson leaves next year they will drop down a tier.

I'm as Vol homer as they come but you are just wrong on both accounts.

Used to go there for ODP soccer camp and there was nothing to do there. Must have changed in the past 20 years. What is close and what is there to do?

Dabo will be going to Bama when Satan walks away!

Have you seen the Scott package of plays? They're probably pitching it to Rodgers. We have to lock Rodgers in though. He's a NEED in this class.

I don't know why you'd say that. Every time I hear him talk, especially in pre-game pep talks, he sounds like that annoying goober in class you wish would just shut the hell up.

I wish saban would shut the hell up when he talks, but that doesn't mean he can't compete for titles.

I haven't been keeping up with this guy much, but do we know that he's really feeling Clemson? How much has he been to UT? Comments about the two?

The same thing there is to do in every college town: parties and women.

There are a ton of schools that are in the middle of nowhere, and it's really not an issue i.e. UGA, UF, Auburn, Ole Miss, TAMU, and plenty of others.

His twitter is all Clemson and hes been close to Hunter Johnson since they met up in Knoxville. I dont see anything on there Pro UT at all.

I know, this notion that there is "nothing" to do in any major university town cracks me up.

When I went to UT I spent all my time either at my fraternity parties at the house, on the strip, in the fort or at a date party/mixer my first 3 years at school.

My last year or so I started getting to downtown and the old city but UT being in "a City" isn't that big of a deal to most recruits I would guess.

There are very few schools in a booming metropolis. And Clemson straight owns us in regards to NFL prospects in the last several years.

That said, yes Clemson can go piss off :)

Clemson has been pretty good in a bad conference. They've been impressive especially this year. Tennessee's first opportunity to actually make a run at the playoffs will be next year. Butch just needs to prove himself on the field and the rest will take care of itself. UT will be unstoppable on the recruiting trail if we take care of business on the field of play.

I agree with this. Butch was selling playing time and did a hell of a job. Now he has to sell W's and L's, and if he can put the Vols in contention this year I don't think recruiting will be an issue for the foreseeable future.

It's kind of a similar thing you're seeing with Clemson right now, which could still finish with a top 5 class despite only signing around 20 people this year (17 are currently committed). 2017 is setting up with the potential to match if not exceed this years class. Dabo could always sell, but now that he has the playoff run as a feather in his cap, it's looking like it might go to a whole new level (side note, don't be shocked to see Gary commit to Clemson on Wed).

Anyways, came to pass along an update on Rodgers. Sounds like a Clemson commitment could come sometime in the next few weeks, but the question seems to be more when and not if at this point. I wouldn't be surprised for it to happen on NSD, as it would continue a trend we've seen play out for Clemson that last few years.

Obviously if he does move forward and commit, I certainly don't expect this to be over by any means.
