'17 TN ATH Jacoby Stevens (LSU commit)

The Star is a hybrid. A cross between a SS & OLB.

Has to be able to play in the box, but also be able to run and cover.

Didn't know if that's what they were telling Stevens he would play at Tennessee.

It's possible, I suppose, but he also said they told him he will be used as at nickel and dime . Shoop's Star at Vandy was Karl Butler, 218 lbs, and at PSU, Brandon Bell weighed 230 lbs. Shoop appears to like his SS/OLB hybrid closer to an OLB size-wise (that Star is going to play in the box a lot), and I would be surprised if they would want Stevens to play nickel and dime at 215-plus.

Darth is right. Watch this year vs last year. Our defense will play more zone read and zone blitz.

Let's get back on track with this JaCoby Stevens kid. Just a little reminder of his national status

Stevens, a 6-foot-2, 200-pound athlete, is ranked No. 24 overall nationally by ESPN and No. 72 by Rivals for the Class of 2017. He is a four-star prospect according to 247Sports.

That position is the absolute perfect spot for Maleik Gray and possibly DeAngelo Gibbs. Gray is a fantastic athlete who is a true tweener between being a S and LB (a big reason why he dropped some on Rivals). There is no scheme out there anywhere that suits him better IMO.

As for Stevens. I think he is a true DB who could project anywhere from FS to Nickel to even CB. There is so much you could do with him though because of his unique makeup.

So, in other words, take them all!!

With this year's haul of recruits in the secondary coupled with some of the guys we should land this coming year, it's like no one will ever be able to pass on us ever again.

I get the feeling that success on the field this season will be the determining factor here and with many of the top tier, in-state players this cycle. Win the east or bust IMO.

And we need to beat Georgia and One of two of Florida and Alabama. Hate bama and want to be there to see us whip them but winning the east means the other two are more important.

We should be a 10 point favorite against florida this year. Probably 3.5 against Georgia. Then a 1 pt underdog against bama

Martin, Griffin, and Abernathy were a great haul too. Martin may be gone after this year under Shoop. His talent with excellent coaching could do numbers for sure.
