'17 TN ATH Maleik Gray (UT signee)

His buyout after next year will be $8 million. Unless we totally tank, he isn't going anywhere. I have not jumped off the train, yet, though, like everyone, I am very disappointed with how we finished the season.

Yeah, 8 mil is a lot. With that, I have to agree. I like Butch a lot and really hope he can get it figured out.

There's folks in this thread that secretly want Gray to flip just so they can say, "I told you so" then laugh about it. Dumb fans we have indeed.

Those are not Tennessee fans, those are trolls. And it seems to me they are pretty open about it. Wish they'd go ahead and switch their allegiance to Bama.

I wouldn't worry too much. I would like to see our recruiting go better just for the next coach that comes in. Butch may only be around 1 more year unless he pulls a diamond out his arse next year.

This should not be the mentality of our fanbase. It's contradictory. You want to be able to convince top recruits to play at a school who will have a new coach in a year? Tell me how you propose this staff to

A) Have the motivation to recruit their ass off if the fanbase wants them gone.
2. Convince the media to use their resources to give the program national exposure
III: convince ELITE recruits to sign their collegiate careers over to an unknown coach and scheme after their one year

It doesn't work that way. These recruits see and hear this noise and it has polluted the recruiting process and efforts. Quit it. Complain all you want but the suggestion of turnover at the head spot has always been this fanbases problem.

Obviously Sab doesn't have a life and probably doesn't have a job since he make so many edits for players to show them some LOVE. He was the same way when he was posting here. Always right, your opinion is wrong, he has sources etc etc.

If you want some laughs and are bored during the Holidays go to the Jesse Scroggins thread. A grand total of 796 pages of GEMS. The second is the infamous Man Crush letter.

Have a nice comfortable sit for 4yrs at SC. You wanted the limelight...now this little stunt you pulled is going to be it. Another prospect will fill the void for us and be lighting it up on National TV while your @$$ sits. I'm disappointed you didn't come here...but I'm not bothered by your choice...just this waiting game stunt. Karma's a b!tch...just remember that.

Dear Jesse,

I know you are struggling with your decision. I just want you to know I wish you well wherever you play, but my heart will break for you if you announce Trojan. We love you in Tennessee. You would be our hero....

But I watch you and I think you do what it is you do as good as it's ever been done.....

We love Lane Kiffin and the brass he has brought to this battle....

But most of us will love you and want well for you. That's just the kind of people that live here in Tennessee. I'm sure your mom's family knows something about that.....

I hope I see you on campus sometime so I can shake the hand of a man that is getting set to play big time NFL ball. You got it in you, bro, you just have to take advantage of all your opportunities. Work your hardest whatever it is you are doing. At Tennessee You will get first team reps your freshman year and there is a real possibility of winning that starting QB job. The longer you do it at a high level, the better your chances are for the millions that come with playing at the next level. We love you Jesse.

Your structure was off there. You need to either stick with A, B, C,..... Or 1, 2, 3.... Or I, II, III, IV... Perhaps you should have a cup of coffee and think about it.

If you were a jerk who wanted to get his rocks off on a free opposing teams web site, you'd troll too. Can't blame them, because we keep feeding into their crap.

It was intentional to lighten the message to make sure people don't think I'm offended. or something.

Don't want him gone. I want him to succeed but the writing is on the wall. Who knows for sure? I really hope he can pull it together but I have seen nothing as of yet saying he will. I love the VOLS and want them to win Natty's just like Bama. Unfortunately, we are not even close to that level.

No one is with Bama but we are with everyone else, healthy.

I truly believe that if our schedule didn't have that crazy gauntlet wed be 11-1 and who knows about the Bama game. We had third and fourth string in our middle of the front 7. No one will win in that situation. Was the season disappointing? Yes. But the injuries must be accounted for in that perspective. We lost several key guys at all three levels. That's insane.

Good thing I'm not either of those. I wouldn't be opposed if Freak required a small nominal fee for posting rights.

Well I'm offended by your poor outline structure and your disdain for a good cup of Java.

Not even going to react to you being offended...

Yep, the injuries were definitely a problem. They barely won when they were healthy and needed a last second Hell Mary to beat the Dawgs. Glad they did. We lost to Vandy. Should not have happened. Losing to Vandy was unacceptable.

After telling Paul earlier in the week that he was solid to Tennessee, Maleik Gray appears to have backed off of that with others as this recruitment looks to get interesting over the next month. Now at this point, we would call it an upset for Gray to end up anywhere but Knoxville. He has a solid group of people around him with Tennessee ties and he has a great relationship with many in this class. That doesn't mean Florida State and others won't keep after him, but he has his official visit in January and Trey Smith and others will continue to reinforce the Vols.

This is all starting to kind of make sense. Every class that we've had before has had a couple of really strong kids doing a lot of recruiting, Gray was supposed to be the guy for this class. Seems like instead of flipping kids to UT they flipped him to FSU.

What a perfect storm. Butch didn't meet expectations on the field or in recruiting. But that's just injuries.

How do you get that from that article? Gray isn't going anywhere but I sure wish you would.

I hope he doesn't and I'm not saying he will. I was just kind of being sarcastic but if he does flip it will be a really bad look.

It's weird to me that he said he was solid and now all the outlets are saying he's not. He even said he's thought a lot about his commitment to UT and if it's the right fit. His comments are worrying to me. Wish I had your confidence.

The injuries definitely exposed his recruiting depth. After 4 years, still no depth.

If you have really followed his recruitment there have been points throughout where his commitment has been questioned and he has always laid them to rest. I do not expect it to change this late in the game. If he goes on the FSU visit, you never know but I expect him to be a VOL come NSD. Faith is all you can have sometimes.

For as long as he's been a commit, it would be a major blow to the class. He knows what is expected of him, but he also knows he has to do what's best for him.

I see someone who is getting caught up in the limelight and the elite-ness of the UA game and it's surroundings. The attention he's getting from other recruits. The pull from FSU commits to join them. That's what I feel is his sudden change. He sounds more like a soft verbal, who wants to weigh his options. On the other hand, you have class of commits, and the home state that's depending on him. He's said UT was family, so we'll see how much he truly values family in the next month or so.

Newberg also CB'd him to FSU the first time around, and he's a homer. Even their own fans recognize it

Gray even said in this guys interview: "Im 95% committed to Tennessee"
