It does stink to lose out on 3 of 4 in state 5 stars. Not sure what happened here but sounds like the coaching staff blew this one. That hurts. Stevens was never coming here, but to miss on both Tee and Phillips sucks for sure

I don't understand this mentality, we offered in 2014, some kids just don't want to go to UT but go ahead and blame Jones..

I will come to the defense of the staff, it has largely been rumored that this guy was turned off by UT. The staff tried and there was no interest. A lot of people in his head about how bad the culture was and the situation at Tennessee. I do not want the staff to just give up, but I also want them to be smart enough to know when to move on or focus on other recruits.

Plus lets be honest, we have not been having the most success on the field. While we are showing progress we are still not at an elite level. Enter Higgins, he chose to go to Clemson because they are simply winning. They are producing more NFL talent at WR and have a more WR friendly offense. Until that changes I do not see many elite WRs wanting to pick Tennessee. Hopefully QD or JG change that.

Rumor is this one really was the staff's fault. Not like Tee, where Clemson just beat us. It happens, just gotta hope ignont makes us forget about him.

The kid never had interest in UT and there's nothing we could do about it, from what I've heard! It happens!!!

Didnt the kids high school coach give us some bad info here so we didn't start recruiting him til it was too late?

Had he not been ignored and or slow played early on he may have been interested. JMO

Tennessee showed very early interest and he was interested. The problems came when he transferred from Beech. The head coach there gave some negative opinions on the kid. Also he was very stiff in the hips and projected more as a DE in college. The guys at NPA helped him tremendously with his flexibility and he worked hard himself to overcome what were considered his limitations as a LB. Things like this happen in recruiting sometimes.
