With our strong need of OT's, why have we not locked Obinna Eze down? He's from the Nashville area and has offers from major programs all across the country! I just don't understand. I know we got the commitment from Trey Smith, but this guy would have a possibility of starting opposite of him from day one. I would take another OT over just about any other position on the field right now.

Because he's locked down to Memphis

We recruited him, he chose Memphis. I remember the mods at VQ saying he was a different sort of recruit than most kids

Go back to the FF. Calbert is just as good as or better than Eze.

Eze is much too raw apparently to be in the "start day one" conversation. I think you are grossly mistaken.

When posters say "I just don't understand", they generally mean "it's intuitively obvious to me, why are others so stupid", but I think I'm gonna start reading it "I'm not so sharp and really don't understand". Easy.

Love these recruiting newbs..Any self respecting follower of Volunteer recruiting knows that Eze has always been a project recruit. He ain't startin anywhere this year. Probably not next year either.

Vol commit Trey Smith checking in at the Under Armour All-American game. GO VOLS!

Analysis of Smith for the game:

When you watch Smith, you see a finisher on the offensive line. He has a great frame with good feet, flexibility, and the ability to be one who protects the quarterback and opens holes for running backs. He can fire off the ball and push defenders off the ball. He does a good job of keeping his feet under him and keeping them moving when engaged. He plays defense as well and he makes his share of plays due to his size, but his future is on offense. He moves pretty really well for a guy his size and will continue to get stronger and better in technique. He flashes good pass sets with balance and control. At times, flashes good pad level, but the consistency there can improve. He is likely a right tackle longterm, but could play anywhere across the offensive line.

If we wouldn't have gotten Trey, Maleik, and Ty then this class would have been a huge let down!

Well yeah kind of can say that about anyone's class any year...

At same time I think we shouldn't sleep on Ignont, Reid, Murphy, Locklear, Calbert, Bembry, Crosby, Butler, Deandre Johnson, Bumphus, Jackson, Labruzza, and Shamburger. Those guys have some nice looking talent. It isn't a fancy class but there are plenty of guys that will help

I agree, but getting 2,3, and 4 ranked players in Tennessee is big.

Guard is open next year

I do believe Smith will come in & start on the OL next season. Some say it will take him into the middle of the season.

I don't think so. He has the skills & is ready now in my opinion to start for us probably at OT but could even play OG.
