It's also the city AL Wilson is from.
-247Sports.Trey Smith, OT, Jackson (Tenn.) University School He's the top offensive tackle on the board of some of the top programs in the nation.
The possibility of landing Smith, Gibbs, Stevens, Chandler, Richardson and Higgins, yes I still think we get him. That is scary good right there.Trey Smith is now the #11 ranked overall recruit & the #5 ranked OT in the nation according to 247Sports. Smith jumped 16 spots in the rankings from the initial rankings to this newest update. Smith is currently still rated a 4* recruit, but is essentially guaranteed to end up a 5* recruit barring a major injury/terrible season. 247Sports rated 32 prospects as 5* recruits in the 2016 class, so Smith will be a sure-fire 5* recruit soon with his #11 overall national ranking.

So does anyone have any insight on whether or not the Drae Bowles situation has a negative effect here?? JCS and USJ are two schools that are as closely connected as any two could be.. Not a great look in that community..
Hold on a minute I've been around Jackson since USJ was Old Hickory Academy and then many years later JCS came along under the direction of the Church of Christ and those two schools are not at all closely connected except for being private.
All the private schools here are located very close to each other. But the situation with Drae will not affect recruitment of any athlete. Fact is many students go to Knoxville every year from here. Most have a great experience there. The Bowles situation is considered an outlier, not the norm.

IMO the Bowles situation isn't an outlier, it happens to around 25% of UT football recruits. They arrive with great promise but don't progress as expected and never really contribute to the program. A good number of them transfer out for a fresh start at another (typically lesser) program. Bowles didn't do much at UTC this season either. Appears his talents were way over estimated coming out of HS. Not a knock on his character, he simply isn't a D1 football player. It's an inexact science and if the coaches could get it right every time then they would only need 50-60 scholarships.
