'17 TN RB/CB Chase Hayden (Arkansas commit)

Poster on VQ is saying UT isn't pursuing Hayden right now.

Would make sense why he wasn't at OC day. Interesting.

Supposedly SC, Mizzou, and Arkansas are his top 3. Can't imagine that would be the case if UT was pushing hard.

I do not say this a lot but this is a mistake by this staff. Hayden is a really good back....not just because he is a legacy.

i think Coleman is a nice option at RB/ Getting Him and Chandler will work fine. I do like Hayden though. Coleman is already almost 205lbs so thats nice to see.

Agree, he is -- or was -- my 2nd favorite RB target after Akers. I like Chandler but Hayden is a more explosive athlete, IMO.

Hayden is a good all around player. But is not the RB Chandler is Or Trey Coleman for that matter.

Chandler is certainley more explosive and is much much harder to bring down.

Hayden has some skills but his upside is limited compared to Chandler and especially Coleman.

I think Hayden ends up in the SEC anyway. Good luck to him.

I started this thread and was really interested at that time to see whether or not our staff really wanted him. He appears to have moved up in the rankings and has done well at camps. But his school does not play high level competition. I assume the staff doesn't see him as an every down back in the SEC. Was looking forward to seeing another Hayden play, but this staff has proven that they know what they are doing.

Sounds like he's ready to commit to SCAR. A little surprised we backed away from him so early.

That may be true and I know Chandler is ranked higher. I also know stats don't tell the whole story, but it's hard for me to square up what you're saying with the fact that Hayden averaged over 11 ypc while Chandler averaged just 7.4 ypc last season. Hayden also scored about twice as many TDs per carry as Chandler.

In addition, Hayden is heading to The Opening Finals based on his performance in Chicago, which included a 4.07 shuttle and a 42' kneeling powerball toss (10' more than Chandler's top mark), demonstrating superior upper-body & core power/explosiveness.

If he weren't a legacy, I'd be less disappointed; still, I think we're missing out on a helluva player.

Now, we just need to wrap up Chandler...

Only thing that makes sense to me is the staff may like him more at WR and he wants to be a RB. He should have been a Vol. No offense to Coleman, but Chase should have got that spot. JMO
