'17 TN RB Ty Chandler (UT signee)

I had a buddy that played at Lambeth under hugh freeze and said he paid all of the top players on the team after every game. Paid for good performances too. Also paid players not to leave for bigger schools. Dude is a cheater and will always be a cheater.

I went to Lambuth while Freeze was coaching.

I knew several football players. Never heard this.

I don't know about that regarding Lambuth. Maybe at first when he got there he could do that but toward the end Lambuth couldn't even afford to pay the coaching staff let alone a player. although what you describe goes on a lot of places. So it wouldn't suprise me. I know for a fact it happened at Ole Miss back in the Cut days so I am sure Freeze has it at an even higher level.

Too many shady recruitments on his watch for nothing to be going on there at a serious level.

Freeze actually left before Lambuth's financial restraints became some prevalent.

In fact, many still say that the football program and its expenses under Vic Wallace and then Freese was a major contributor to the downfall of Lambuth.

It's hilarious seeing some of our own posters defending Ole Miss and Hugh Freeze. Even though we're on the rise and are finally relevant after going through the Dooley years, we're still not good enough to get highly touted recruits according to some on here. Ole Miss runs a clean program after all, I mean they just got busted by the NCAA for violations not too long ago... :eek:lol:

We will not have the #1 class. We all know who that is reserved for. Tennessee is now the only school in the SEC with ZERO commits for 2017.

Still have a wee bit of time to get some recruits in. Don't think anybody oughtta be losing sleep over it.

I was involved in a discussion a while back about Freeze at Lambuth. Someone said that they knew that Freeze's salary there was paid by private donors and that Freeze made decent money (as in, more than one would think at a small school). He even mentioned some financial guy in or around Jackson that helped pay. Not that it really matters, but do you know anything about that?

Most of Freeze's salary was painf by private donation for sure. School could not afford to pay him a ton.

He left before the school stopped paying faculty and staff though

Underclassman Eval

STRENGTHS: Tall and well built with enough speed to get the edge. Possesses the vision and patience to find holes and the outstanding acceleration to exploit them. Strong runner who rarely goes down on first contact. Has good ball skills as a receiver and excels in the screen game. Very capable return man on special teams.

AREAS OF IMPROVEMENT: Does not have game-breaking speed. Runs a bit high at times. Lacks the wiggle to consistently make defenders miss in space. Will need more experience as a blocker. Has a very lean frame--built like a wide receiver.

BOTTOM LINE: Chandler has a very impressive blend of size, speed and athleticism. He runs hard and has the potential to be a bell cow at the next level with continued physical development. Lots of upside with this game and he could even contribute early on as a returner on special teams.

Sounds a lot like Hurd coming out of High School.

except that Hurd was 6'3 220 and Chandler is 6'0 170. I'm hoping that Chandler can be the Travis Stephens to Cordarrian's Travis Henry in this class. Now if we could only flip Cam Akers to play the J. Lewis role, we would be on to something.
