'17 TN TE LaTrell Bumphus (UT signee)

Looks like he will be back playing tonight against Dyer Co! Going to play limited snaps and only playing on offense! #Go Tigers#Go Vols

I read an article quoting him saying he would start out his UT career at TE. I don't remember where, though.

Apologies if so. :hi: I haven't heard that.

What I had read had this quote, “They said it’s up to me whether I play offense or defensive,” Bumphus said. “If I was on defense they said I would be a pass rusher. But I talked to Coach Scott and he said they want me to play tight end too. I don’t really have a preference. I like tight end but if they need me on defense that’s where I’m going to go.” I must have omitted the bolded if the first time I read it.

I'm gonna be watching his game tonight. Anyone know if he's recovered from the injury he had earlier in the season?

Edit: never mind he is on the field. Seems to be a big kid.

On defense he's drawing a constant double team and still getting into the backfield on most plays. The team he's playing has only passed once and he pressured the QB. They also seem to be running away from him or up the middle so he's not getting on much action.

On offense he's been target one time for about a 50ish yard gain. Took both safeties to bring him down. Besides that he only been used as H-back type leading blocker for the QB and RB.

Halftime Hardin County leads 17-7.

I went and watched him play Friday. He clearly isn't 100%. He played very little in the second half. His coaches played him mostly at WR, RB and DT. Very impressive athlete. To me he looks like a better tight end than defensive end.

Bumphus had two tackles on defense and seven carries for 25 yards and four catches for 47 yards on offense in Hardin County's loss to Jackson North Side. Next up is Chester County.

Bumphus returned an interception for a touchdown, rushed for 48 yards and a touchdown on four carries, recorded seven tackles, a tackle for loss and a pass breakup on defense, and punted twice for a 37.5-yard average Friday night in Hardin County’s 37-14 win over Chester County of Henderson, Tenn.

What doesn't he do?

Ahhhhh you're right! How could I forget about that beauty by Berry!

Does anyone know when our last non-mop up int for a TD was? I'm drawing a blank.

Didn't a LB intercept a pass and score at UK last year?

Edit: I think he came up short.
