'17 TN TE LaTrell Bumphus (UT signee)

MH made it clear on his reasoning. Jacoby is definitely the best athlete in the state for the reasons you've stated... But he isn't on Higgins level as a WR. I'm assuming, but it seems that MH was basing his personal rankings on college projection at a specific position.

With that in mind, Higgins at WR is higher rated than Jacoby at S.... IMO.

Yup.

Tee Higgins is #15 in the 247 composite rankings while Jacoby is #23.

So Tee is more highly regarded.

Arguing about recruit rankings is stupid any time of year.

Come on, you know 24/7 can evaluate talent better than Butch and the Bobs. That's why subscriptions are so high.

Seriously there is so much error in these evaluations. There are a number that from the get go you don't see if they can make it, but a lot of "can't miss" guys do miss. The question isn't always "Are they the highest rated." It is often just as simple as "Can we win with this guy?"

Come back to me about recruit rankings after their SR year. All subject to change

I think the staff has done really well with our 3-star recruits. Go back to 2013 and look how many turned out to be stars for us.

both are good so that is no argument.

This is all that needs to be said. Both are really good/great and I hope that although unlikely, they are both Vols at the end of the day, along with the other top instate guys.

I'm excited about the future of in state recruiting.

You say tomato, I say tomato...

We need to pull the top ten in state every year.... Let's argue about who is in slots 8-10 instead of 1-7

Per Hubbs

There have been plenty of rumblings concerning Theo Jackson and Latrell Bumphus this week as well and they could both decide to do something. While the confidence level isn't as high on these two, we do believe there's a chance they could.

But, even if Bumphus or Jackson don't commit we still believe the Vols are the clear team to beat with both of those instate prospects.

No we don't. We need to get the players the staff wants. In the past ten years, Chris Donald, Patrick Turner and Jason Carr have all been the No 1 player in the state. All huge busts.

Yeah, I just can't understand that mentality. Last year was pretty down for instate. Can you imagine taking the top 10, and then not signing their out of state position equivalent? And that's assuming we could have even landed the top 10

I agree with the point you're making, but Carr was not the #1 recruit in the state in 2013. Jalen Ramsey was, FWIW.
