'17 TX QB Will McBride (UT Commit 12/13/2016)

If McBride was 6-3 or 6-4 you would see a much higher rating. He shows good pocket awareness in feeling the rush. Squares well and resets his feet. He sees the field well and is able to look off the safety. On the deep ball understands putting air under the ball, something a lot of high school qbs struggle with. Not a bad pickup this late in the game.

Oh, not this... A small amount turn out to be stars. MOST don't though. That said, we didn't have a lot of options this late in the game. Hope McBride turns into one of the 3 you mentioned. 🙃

Baker Mayfield, Paxton Lynch, could go on and on. Watch the guys film, he clearly has potential. Some of the best QB coaches in the country wanted him. He isn't polished yet as Fort said, but he has a very strong arm and he is a great athlete.

Love the guys "keeping it real" in this thread.

I'd love to have a roster full of 5 star quarterbacks as much of the rest of you. You know what 5 star QBs or highly-recruited 4 stars do when they aren't named the starter in the spring? They transfer.

In our current situation, for JG to start, we need QB depth. We need a couple of guys who aren't going to get their jimmies rustled if they don't see the field as a redshirt sophomore but who can develop into SEC starters. Believe it or not, that's basically who Joshua Dobbs is/was.

Russell Wilson would disagree. Short, live arm and athletic. Just sayin

Composite score of .7998
28th ranked dt qb

Boom welcome young man!🏈🏈🏈🌞🌞😎😎😎🍊🍊🍊

Anybody who is upset about this pickup, watch this video and tell me he doesn't have potential? He isn't coming in to start next year. He has a few years to develop and who knows, maybe he becomes the guy. He has a great arm and runs very well. Throws a great deep ball too

Senior Year - William McBride highlights - Hudl

Mouth breathers don't view film to draw conclusions. They count stars, like my 6 year old liked to do a few years ago

Love the throw at the 6:25 mark...pumps down the sideline to stretch the safety then hits the tight end down the middle.

Spot-on, Delfonic!

Dobbs was thrown into the fire as a true Freshman and Sophomore only because of thin depth at the QB position as a result of Dooley's weak recruiting. In a healthier Tennessee program, Dobbs likely never sees significant action till his Redshirt Sophomore season.

McBride wants to compete immediately, but reading between the lines, you can also tell that he understands that he may not be "the guy" for a few seasons, and he's fine with that. A few years from now, he may step up and win the job and be a Josh Dobbs type of QB.

He's a great pick-up and ideal given our current needs.

"I've been told he's at least 6-0 and maybe even 6-1. I've never seen him.

My take on him:

There are always a couple of guys at the lower level that you always say, "How did that guy end up there?" I think McBride could be that. I think he has some brashness and a lot of confidence in a good way after talking to him.

Yes, his throwing motion isn't clean, but he has some athleticism. His offer list wasn't great, but Norvell knows QBs, Whittingham offered him at Utah, Boise State offered, he was committed to Chad Morris at SMU at one point, so several schools with track records of developing good QBs offered.

Is he Hunter Johnson? No. Could he turn into something? Maybe."

- Fortenberry

I'll take this kid over Hunter Johnson any day. HJ is a massive bust waiting to happen.

Glad we could snag this 3 star with a poor offer list. Meanwhile Bama has the number one rated dual threat QB committed we sound like Vanderbilt fans saying every 2 or 3 star could be the next jordan Matthew's
